## Act-On Reviews
  ### 1. Great alternative to Pardot with lighter reporting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The ease of use as well as the customer support. Campaigns are easy to set-up and customer service is always ready to help out. Also, Act-on had month to month billing and very competitive pricing.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The reporting options leave a lot to be desired. The tools to build landing pages are a bit limited. Our company has very specific reporting requirements and it is impossible to customize or tailor the report s to generate the output we need for monthly business reviews.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

If you need a powerful marketing automation tool and don't have a lot of reporting requirements then Act-on is an excellent value

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-on allows us to send weekly mass-email marketing campaigns, distribute customer emails and send our newsletter. Act-on allows us to meet all of our marketing automatin and email marketing needs at a much lower cost than most of the competition. Pardot is also friendly to our methods and list usage.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for posting your review! I would encourage you to check out Act-On's Engagement Insights module for more robust reporting. Users also see a lot of benefit in engaging with our User Community https://community.act-on.com/home to exchange best practices and get additional insights from experts. Thanks again!

  ### 2. Good experience using this for Marketing Automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Although there are plenty of companies in the marketing automation software space, Act-On stands out for offering a strong tool that contains a variety of features.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The platform is expensive when compared to other platforms or competitor products

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Act-On does everything most businesses need their marketing automation software to do. However, because it's such a costly tool, most small businesses and startups are going to find themselves wishing there was a lower pricing tier available.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NA

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> We appreciate your feedback. Thanks for taking the time to post a review.

  ### 3. Great product, intuitive interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Ease of use, integrations with many, many services

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Email drag and drop editor could be improved, but once you learn how it works it's fine, really

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Fantastic, well supported platform

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CRM, email deployment and list management

**Official Response:**

> Thanks so much for posting your review. We appreciate your feedback!
Cheers!

  ### 4. Overpriced, Under Powered, Under Serviced

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

List imports and overall set up was easy enough to get going.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The sales and services team kept insisting that we pay for another 6 months even after we terminated the contract (according to the terms). Very negative experience with their sales and services teams. Could rarely get an expert on line or on the phone for support. Integrations with analytics were buggy. Mis-reporting on deliverability, opens, CTR etc were a constant frustration (e.g. numbers did not add up from reporting to campaigns). Landing page tool was clunky and looked bad. SFDC integration was always problematic. Heuristics were a pain to define / tune and automation for anything other than sending emails was nearly non-existent.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

avoid.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing Automation, landing page, email marketing, prospect scoring, engagement tracking.

  ### 5. More expensive

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

It has a good interface for looking at reports and top level results. You can dig down to see the basic KPI’s for your email marketing campaigns.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

There are better interfaces for less money out there. Nothing exceptional about the offerings. Or unique value.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Negotiate pricing. Competitors are cheaper

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used them for marketing email deployments.

  ### 6. Extremely helpful and user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Was so easy to use! This was my first job doing marketing and Act On has mad my life so much easier!

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Disliked that you could only access on one computer without buying another copy.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps tremendously with marketing. Saves a lot of time by keeping all of our data easily accessible as well as linking with Microsoft Word to automatically input information into marketing forms that we send out.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for being an Act-On enthusiast and sharing your feedback on G2Crowd. We really appreciate it!

  ### 7. Good Functionality for Agency Pricing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The dashboard is easy to navigate and customizable.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Wysiwyg is glitchy and the new mobile friendly form does not allow for file uploads.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Make sure you price out based on how many emails you send per year vs how many ppl are in your database. Depending on which platform you use they charge differently for usage.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Emailing our small database as much as we want within the same month. Being able to create drip campaigns based on segments from previous emails plus being able to download creatives to upload into drupal webpages.

  ### 8. This is awesome way to engage people to talk about the software they use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex P. | Reseach Scientist , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like the way I can deploy it in the cloud and orchestrate it as a service on Kubernetes or using Docker Swarm enterprise.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I do not have any dislike preferences, however, more documentation to enable integration in different platforms

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Non-profit workflow for marketing

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thank you for taking the time to post a review, Alex! We appreciate your feedback. We are adding documentation to our Knowledge Base every day. I would also encourage you to leverage the Act-On User Community as a great resource and to exchange best practices with other users. You can find it here: https://community.act-on.com/home
Cheers!

  ### 9. Clunky and Cumbersome

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aimee K. | Free Agent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

It does everything you need it to do for less than competitor products. Analytics and reports are excellent. Support was adequate but not great.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The user interface is clunky at best. I found it challenging to use, and I've been in digital marketing for over 20 years. I took the certification course as a means to learn more and get better at using the application - only to find the documentation and testing materials were out of date and referred to older versions. The landing page creator was hard to use, and the email tool made it so challenging create professional-looking emails, we ended up going back to our previous email platform to manage this.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Evaluate comparable products and talk to your industry peers. We chose Act-on because we were told it integrated the best with our CRM, but in hindsight, we would have gone with the software that everyone else recommended.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using this for lead generation for an industrial client. The analytics and reporting were really good, and we were easily able to see which prospects were actually visiting our site and engaging with content.

  ### 10. Easy to use, easy to follow your clients

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Act-On is a very easy to use tool for automation. You can set from a single-mail campaign to a complex behaviour flux. Use all capabilities connecting other tools and setting lead scoring to all actions. It incudes the option to create landing pages and gated content, so you are always un control of your information.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Databases sometimes can get messy easily. Segmentation is not the best feature (you need to create cascades to create segments). Another feature should be optimized is the options in the landing pages editor (some options are very limited or simple, some HTML codes are not accepted). Also the e-mail footers are kind of messy to admin when you're sending a unique e-mail.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Act-On is a powerful tool for mid-market requeriments. You can set almost all parameters for leadscoring and connect many other tools, but if you are looking for complex DB connections or advanced marketing intelligence, you might look for another tool.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-On and CAN-SPAM Act policies will not let you send e-mail to generic e-mails (contact@xxxxx, admin@xxxxx, help@xxxxx) so if your database contain many addreses like that you will not be able to track their activities.

**Official Response:**

> Hi Eduardo,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We love hearing from customers and appreciate your honest feedback.

  ### 11. Simialr to Hubspot, but simpler

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** LaQuinnDrick H. | Email Campaign Execution Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

What I like best about Act-on is the ease of creating templates and scheduling emails.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

My only dislike is a shortage of template options.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-on was used in order to help streamline our email process, and keep us from having a bland and long to build process.

  ### 12. BI users, stay away

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan C. | IT Business Analyst, Mining & Metals, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

It has all the essential capabilities and is fairly user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

API and Data Studio are in credibly limited in the data offerings. If you have any intention of trying to connect to a BI / analytics platform, you're going to want to look at other platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Will not work properly with BI platforms due to limits in API / data extraction.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was our first MA platform. We learned a lot about what MA can do, but we have outgrown this particular platform due to it's data extraction limitations.

  ### 13. User friendly platform with a surplus of support materials

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I chose this platform because it had the enterprise-level capability of marketing platforms like IBM, but it was much more user-friendly and cost-effective. Plus, the technical support we receive is almost always top-notch and very responsive.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

At the beginning of our relationship, they were extremely responsive. The account person who courted us really listened to our needs and was very helpful as I, a marketing user, was trying to navigate several technical concerns. Since then, they have unfortunately left the business so now I feel our support is standard, not expceptional.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Between Act-On and Hubspot, we chose Act-On based on price and team support. Our biggest concern was getting something that was a right fit for us and our clients. I think Hubspot would've been a very comparable choice, but it has a built-in CRM, where we have a separate CRM that Act-On can integrate with, and our clients would all have a separate CRM, too. Hubspot was also a little more expensive. When in doubt, do all the free trials!!!

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to more efficiently on-board marketing and sales uers than that of our previous platform. It helps us be more efficient in campaign building and deployment. And it's so user-friendly that non-technical users can get a lot accomplished on their own so our development teams can focus on other work.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks so much for your review! We love hearing from customers and appreciate your honest feedback. I will share your comments with our team, as we are always working to improve.
Best,
Sarah

  ### 14. Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like that act on is an easy to use marketing automation software for lead generation .

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I dislike that it is sometimes hard to get a hold of my representative.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problem soled with act on is lead generation through the latest tools

  ### 15. We don't regret the switch!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Easy to navigate, prompt and helpful customer service, great CRM integration, meets our business needs. Love the way to easily find and share curated content from media sources. Calendar has color coding per campaign.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The UI is a little annoying because everything is hidden in a collapsed icon sidebar. Takes a while to figure out where things are.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted a way to organize and analyze our social media efforts (via their service Oktopost) because other services did not easily allow you to do this. As a company we also simultaneously wanted to better be able to write, track, and analyze emails that would sync with our CRM. Act-On does both!

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks so much for your review. We're delighted you're happy with Act-On as a whole, as well as seeing the great benefits of the Advanced Social Media feature. Awesome!

  ### 16. Okay MAT but still behind the times

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The email reports are easily digestible and are clickable to the various segments of who opened, clicked, etc. Deliverability staff has been helpful

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The UI is outdated and features like smart form fields and progressive profiling have just been rolled out. The system is list-based rather than set up like a database (meaning you can't currently search for one specific email address within the UI, though there are workarounds). The database configuration was promised to rollout Q1 2018 and we're still waiting. Our Microsoft Dynamics CRM doesn't sync well.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to pull in marketing lists from Microsoft Dynamics for automation and manual deployments, though Dynamics doesn't sync that well with Act-On so far. We are able to deploy decent looking emails.

  ### 17. Clunky but gets the job done

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I really like the Spam filter feature that allows you to check the likelihood your message will be blocked.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The platform itself is a bit clunky, and the UX seems outdated and a lot to be desired. Lots of customizable features though, so it does come with an upside.
Wish the analytics were more in depth.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to relatively quickly create/write, customize, schedule, and send messaging to large quantities of people (easily upload list, from Excel for example). Analytic tracking is good, not great, but it gets the job done.

  ### 18. Claims from Sales don't match user experience

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Act On offers a lot of integrations and features to connect with CRMs, social platforms, and other suites. In terms of features offered, it's definitely upper tier compared to other platforms. They have formal partnerships with some other partners we use, like Healthgrades, which reduces the amount we have to develop or integrate.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Act On's workflow is cumbersome. It's not terribly intuitive to build drip campaigns, and the ease of building customized reports leaves a lot to be desired. One thing in particular that I haven't been impressed with is their list management functions. It's not easy to manage opt-ins and -outs, and move contacts between lists and so on.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

If you have the money for Act On, consider other products that are in the same tier - Hub Spot, Pardot, and Marketo are also very feature rich and have better UI/UX.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Act On for our outbound email marketing campaigns to customers and employees. It gets the job done and we don't experience a lot of errors of failures.

  ### 19. Easy to use

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The platform was easy to use and keep track of all of your different lists/promotions.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

It was not easy to customize and had to use other platforms in conjunction with this one.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have since moved away from Act-On.

  ### 20. Good Tool with a Few Bumps

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny C. | Vice President of Marketing, Machinery, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Compatibility with Microsoft Dynamics CRM syncing data automatically between the two platforms makes for a seamless user experience.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Ongoing deliverability issue that have not been able to be resolved. All of our own distributors don't get our communications.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Test it and lock in a long term price.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our sales people don't have time for outbound prospecting We bring qualified and interested individuals to them.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Hi Jenny,
Thanks for your feedback. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to speak to one of our deliverability experts. I'll email you privately with their contact info. We also have an email deliverability best practices webinar coming up on November 15th. You can register here: https://success.act-on.com/acton/fs/blocks/showLandingPage/a/9883/p/p-0630/t/page/fm/0

  ### 21. Beneficial for promoting your campaign!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Act-On allowed me to promote my business and products in a way that reached many people in a short span of time.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The reason I do not use it any more is because my business switched to newer software. There was nothing I disliked about it.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

I would consider bringing up this product to management before expecting to use it on a wide scale.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was solving the issue of reaching a wide age-range of populous in a short span of time through technology. I realized the benefits of using a computer program ON TOP OF posters, email, etc.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for posting your positive feedback. We hope to have you back as a customer in the near future and appreciate you taking the time to share your review.

  ### 22. Easier to use and learn, excellent customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Easy to navigate and organize campaigns. UI is pretty intuitive

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Functionality is not as broad as other platforms. There are often ways to get around that or make do but they can be extremely tedious to set up.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lead scoring, market segmentation for email programs, automated programs through landing pages

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for posting your review! We love and appreciate receiving customer feedback.

  ### 23. Easy to use intuitive design with excellent support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Easy to use intuitive design with excellent support

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Bugs aren't addressed quickly and a lack of an undo button

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better email automation

  ### 24. A Simple to Use and Powerful Marketing Automation System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric K. | IT Director, Religious Institutions, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I love how easy it was for me to integrate our donor management system with Act-On. The ability to import large sets of data with whatever columns I want via FTP and schedule routines is brilliant. I'm not dependent on programmers using complicated API's that are poorly supported or frequently break down.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

My only complaint so far is the unsubscribe form is an all or none approach. We have fifteen different types of emails we send out and I wish I had the ability to only show certain lists on that unsubscribe form. If each email I sent out could be associated to a particular unsubscribe form this system would be perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

It's been a pleasure working with them. Their pricing model is much better than most other marketing automation companies. It's been a great move for us!

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved IT involvement with the creation and sending of emails. Now our various departments can create and send out their own emails. We can see how plugged in some of our donors are to our emails and websites.

**Official Response:**

> Thank you for taking the time to post your review of Act-On. We appreciate your honest feedback!

  ### 25. Act-on for marketing campaign is good to an extent

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

You can reach out to bulk of people at one go which helps and enhances the marketing campaign

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The integration with other tools is not as powerful as it is in other competitor tools like eloquo

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

NA

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Majorly marketing campaigns

  ### 26. Needs refinement

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Can have a list of email domains to always exclude from all emails

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Their reporting features did not work well. Were bulky and often had to combine multiple reports to get what you wanted.

  ### 27. Probably the best automation software for small and midsize businesses Today

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** StepToInbound U. | Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I have used mailchimp and Oracle's Eloqua in past. The feature sets which stand outs for us are "Website Prospector", excellent customer support and ability to segregate our customers between "Known" and "Anonymous Prospects" . We also use Salesforce for CRM activities, and the integration with Salesforce has been exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Lack of ready-made landing page and pre-designed templates. Inability to add manual tracking codes for analytics and campaign measurements.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Classic forms have provided us a way forward for using iframes across our landing pages on WordPress. Noticed Act-On recently, moving towards much more intuitive Labs forms. If you are small and medium scale business looking for good customer support and cost for ownership, plenty of API/connectors, Social media listening, Publishing and SEO friendly E mailer automation tool, Act-On is for you!

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

E mailer campaigns using Act-On are back bone of outreach campaigns to our existing customers and prospects. We also use Act-On for regular newsletters, lead and demand generation campaigns.

**Official Response:**

> Thank you for your review, Neeraj! We loving hearing from customers and appreciate your feedback.

  ### 28. Solid Product. Exception Customer Service.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Callie M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The platform itself is reliable and fairly straightforward, with broad integration capabilities. However, what truly sets Act-On apart is the customer service. Questions and issues are addressed promptly and thoroughly. I have waited up to a week or more for assistance on other platforms, only to get virtually nowhere. The support team at Act-On, meanwhile, has consistently gone above and beyond.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

When integrating with other systems, there can be additional steps that are not as intuitive. Whether this has more to do with Act-On or the partner system is unclear. This is easily overcome, and the support team is excellent at helping with navigation.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

I would always recommend evaluating the capabilities of a platform based on your specific business needs. Even an excellent platform, if it does not have what you are looking for, can be a poor fit. As a tool for marketing automation, Act-On is superb in its ease of use when setting up and segmenting campaigns, with integration capabilities that feed to and from WebEx and Salesforce, and the ability to easily embed forms and create landing pages.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-On is our primary B2B marketing platform. It's the means through which we connect with our customers and promote our presence at events. The ability to setup marketing automation campaigns quickly and simply has been a huge benefit, with the ramp up time for new users being very short, as the system is fairly straightforward and user friendly.

**Official Response:**

> Thank you for taking the time to post your review, Callie! We love our customers and really appreciate the feedback.

  ### 29. Great Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I love the university/tutorials they provide. There are a lot of different capabilities through Act-On and it's very easy to gradually become more proficient through their "university classes" and video tutorials.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Act-On integrates well with our CRM system, Sugar, but I wish we were able to simply input an additionally email address we want to send an email to directly from Act-On. Additionally, it is somewhat difficult to edit picture size, and we have experienced some issues with emails appearing one way in a draft and then sending with a different format. We have then had to go in and edit the HTML to resolve the issue which is not very easy to do for many individuals.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

There are some issues with design and functionality and it's not completely intuitive. However, the reporting capabilities are great and the university classes they have available make learning the system and advanced functions a lot easier.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-On pairs great with our CRM system, Sugar. Our other CRM system and ESP were not very cohesive and as a result we didn't have many reports accessible to us. One of the most helpful reporting capabilities of Act-On has been able to view who is visiting our website. Specifically, we are able to see how much time they spent on our website and what pages they visited.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for the feedback!
I encourage you to check out the Act-On user community at https://community.act-on.com/home for tips and tricks from fellow Act-On users.

Streamlines communication and outreach

  ### 33. Marketing Automation Software with Great Customer Support

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** C. Gregg C. | Student Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

From the very first step, Act-On is dedicated to making sure their services will help meet or exceed your marketing goals. Their customer support and onboarding team is stellar and are dedicated to helping you succeed. Act-On offers a wealth of information and supplemental instruction to use their software through Act-On University which has been very valuable. Act-On also offers templates for emails, landing pages, forms, and marketing programs which make it very easy to get started.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

There are only a few small things that I dislike about Act-On. I wish there was a better system for the content organization on their platform. I also wish their template emails were a little more polished out of the box.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are working smarter with our marketing campaigns as we are able to customize and personalize them to meet the needs of our potential clients. We can track visits to our websites and interaction with our emails to a greater degree which helps us lead our efforts in the buyer's journey.

**Official Response:**

> Thanks for posting your review. We love our customers and value your feedback.

  ### 34. Easy to Use, Great Templates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer T. | Marketing & Digital Executive, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like the set up of the new email creator. I can now create my own templates to make reoccurring emails easier. The website prospecting tool is extremely helpful when it comes to new business development. I know who has visited our site and what they are potentially interested in.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The search features for contacts only works if you are in a certain list. It's difficult having to delete or search for a specific individual when I don't know which list they are on. The templates in content have not been updated in quite a while, no new templates have been added. I'd also like to know how to change the url of the landing pages from promo to ourwebsite.com/landingpagename as it stands the urls are not very SEO friendly for our website.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Go through the training it will be helpful...

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business Development
Lead Generation
Marketing automation

**Official Response:**

> Jennifer, thanks for posting your review. We value your honest feedback.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

that they only have one source of company and not other actions.

  ### 36. We instantly found this software user friendly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The easy use fAct-On continues to draw praise for its growth, product and leadership.or all staff to help build our marketing list and campaigns! We find the software user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

At the moment, we have nothing to dislike at all. We find the software user friendly.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-On published the results of a three-month survey, detailing differences between top and average performing B2B companies

  ### 37. Great Salesforce integration. Poor Reporting and the Email Builder is lacking.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like how it integrates with Salesforce seamlessly. The automation programs are intuitive and useful. I really like how you can set Suppression Fatigue rules so people aren't receiving multiple emails causing fatigue.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The builder is terrible. Not a lot of customization. For example, the RSS feed looks like it was designed in the early 2000s and can't be changed. No visual flows & flow branching. Seems standard for most platforms these days. Documentation is very simple and lacking. Reporting is very basic. You have to wait until the beginning of every month for your account rep to send you a visual monthly report. If you want to pull custom reports they require to use tokens. Once you're out of tokens you can't pull additional reports. Listing and segmenting is not intuitive and requires you to think outside of the box. No personalized send times.

Terrible customer service. Wait time is over an hour over the phone. Email is hit or miss.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email automation. I've benefited by easily being able to target segments from the Salesforce integration.

  ### 38. This is the best software we've ever bought (no really)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon C. | Application Developer, Religious Institutions, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I used to constantly get requests to create emails for sales/marketing/development. Nearly every week. Since we started using act-on and the end users were shown the system I never get asked to make emails.

It allows them to have their emails sent out and allows me to work on actual development. It also allows for easily created responsive emails that look great on desktops and on mobile devices.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Honestly nothing. I can't think of one thing I'd change about it.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

BUY IT. Seriously. This software will seriously reduce the workload your IT staff has to put into making marketing/sales driven emails. I don't say this lightly but as I said, I used to create a lot of emails. Especially for our end of year. I made no end of year emails last year, it's that intuitive for the user.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very regular requests for emails to donors/customers.

**Official Response:**

> Thanks for posting your review, Jon. Really appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Happy marketing!

  ### 39. Experience with the software

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Tedious and a bit lengthy also not user friendly

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Company data anlysis
Work gets done fast

  ### 40. Great Intuitive platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua P. | Freelance Graphic Designer & Illustrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Email marketing is made simple, all the commands you'd expect are available.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I can't think of anything that's truly a problem, usability can always be improved

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email marketing and automation. It speeds up email production time as well as allows for triggered tier level responses that make setting up and serving the correct response to a segmented persona a breeze. to do

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

  ### 41. A fully-immersive email marketing platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like how easy it is to format and send mass messages

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Sometimes contact uploads can take a bit of time, but it is understandable

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Know how many active contacts you'd like to have in your database

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication with a very nomadic group of workers. They are always on the go and we need a medium that will cover all of our bases.

  ### 42. Great Program with Potential to round out Member Experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chelsea S. | Market Research Specialist, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

First and foremost, I like the automated programs, which has allowed us to reduce the time and manual labor we put into building ad hoc emails. We've been able to push out information faster and able to reach more people than Constant Contact.
Second, I like scoring process. We can cookie the users, and set up different criteria of how they're scored. From that, we created a leads list for our contact center, so they can personally reach out.
Third, I love the segment feature we can create with a list in the contacts. That has allowed us to further divide out who's interested in our products and services after two emails, then better market to those users.
Lastly, I like Act-On University. This program is intimidating, but Uni has a selection of different courses you can take depending on how you want to use the software. We have a team of primary users, and also a sales team. Both have very different roles in how we use Act-On, so it's great to see our team on the same page.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

The program itself is intimidating. There are so many factors that go into one email, that it takes a few months to fully grasp the concepts. Act-On University has really helped with that, so I'd recommend going through as many of the workshops as possible. The downside to that, is if you're looking to get certified and do the live workshops, the presenter has to manually upload your name for you to get credit. I reached out to support and it wasn't as helpful as I was hoping.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software has forms that we integrated with our website, so we have the ability to track our users and better grasp their behaviors and conversions. It's allowed us to create our own templates and use those for outbound and the automated programs. We've been able to provide our contact center with a list of hot leads, which we've gotten positive feed back from.

**Official Response:**

> Hi Chelsea,
Thanks so much for posting your review. We value your feedback and appreciate your candor.

  ### 43. Can't get the benefits that were promised

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like the idea of how marketing automation can help nurture leads into sales. I like the idea that the right software can help take the load off our sales guys and help them focus on selling rather than researching and sifting through unqualified leads.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I don't like the technical support. I don't like that it has been 6 months and the system is still not fully configured. It's been too time consuming and I realize our money and time could have been better spent elsewhere. They made a lot of promises about how they have a top notch on-boarding process and how new users are well supported. Most questions they just refer you to watch a video, but half the time the video doesn't answer the question. The videos have become tedious and pointless.
Much of the problem is it doesn't work great with Dynamics 365, we've never gotten the hot prospects or dashboard to work. I think its better integrated with Salesforce

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to pass on this.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our goal was to be able to identify the unknown prospects that were visiting our site and to keep our sales force informed. Unfortunately we've been trying to get this thing to work for months and its not paying for itself. Pretty much zero ROI at this point.

  ### 44. Act On I found to be very user friendly and rather easy to get the hang of when first learning it.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

I like that it is easily accessible, able to capture valuable data in a timely manner, and that it’s rather easy to manage and use amongst our team.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I don’t really dislike anything about it so far. Perhaps after using it for a bit longer I might discover something I dislike, but as of right now I’m able to use it for everything I’ve needed.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Give it a try

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to better collect and analyze data on our clients and potential clients. The benefits are that it’s capturing more data than we were able to capture without it before.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for posting your review! We're glad to hear you're an Act-On fan and having a good experience. I recommend checking out the Act-On User Community for additional resources. It's a great place to exchange best practices, provide product suggestions and connect with other marketers. https://community.act-on.com/home

  ### 45. Very good top funnel marketing automation software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The platform itself is really intuitive to use and it doesn't take long to get familiar with the platform and get going.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Whilst it's a really strong platform, I believe it's most strong on the top funnel level.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

There's a fantastic 'university' assigned to Act-On which is extremely useful when setting up connections, integrating CRMs etc. Really really good actually, some of the best documentation I've ever come across.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Setting automated customer journeys based on behaviour across different channels including website.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks so much for posting your review and providing feedback. In addition to the Act-On University, the Act-On User Community is another excellent resource for tips and best practices. I hope you'll check it out: https://community.act-on.com/home

  ### 46. Does the job, kinda

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

It does what it needs to do. You can send emails to specific lists and although I don’t use it for drip campaigns, there are quite a few automation options.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Emails land in junk mail. The UX is kinda a mess. You can’t layer images and text when building an email or landing page to that’s very limiting or you need to upload an image with text in it, which isn’t very user-friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Just spend a lot of time working in they system to learn it

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sending all of the emails.

  ### 47. Powerful, scalable marketing automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

Act-On simplifies the most frustrating parts of other Marketing Automation vendors. Someone with zero experience could be building campaigns and

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

I've never run into any issues with their product. It worked wonderfully, and their support was fantastic.

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act-On provided sales insights to our SDR team and enabled them to email out from within salesforce with attractive, templated emails with the full power of a marketing automation engine behind them. This is in addition to the scope of how our marketing team used the system.

**Official Response from Sarah Moore:**

> Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for Act-On! We really appreciate it and are glad you're finding marketing automation success.

  ### 48. Easy to use interface

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sierra S. | Marketing Content Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Act-On?**

The interface is extremely user-friendly. I was new to the program and navigated and got to know the program within a week. The customer service is fast and responsive. I solved issues and questions quick and efficiently. They have amazing reporting and real time implementation as far as website visits.

**What do you dislike about Act-On?**

Integration with CRM is flawed, has many workarounds but only reached after in-depth conversations with customer service.

Segmentation and list flow isn't easy to use and can get real messy real fast.

**Recommendations to others considering Act-On:**

Great database and reporting!

**What problems is Act-On solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing automation and reporting. The benefits of the reporting have been crucial to the success of our marketing. I do like being able to see how my emails are doing at a glance so I can optimize real results.
