After running my marketplace business as a side hustle for three years, it was time for me to pass the reins to someone with more time and energy to give it the best chance at long-term success. I heard about Microacquire and decided to check it out, and am I glad I did. Listing my business was simple, and they had handy integrations with Stripe and Google Analytics to pull my revenue and traffic metrics directly to my profile, which makes it easy for buyers to see exactly what's going on under the hood and increases trust. I could vet the buyers who were interested in my company before giving them access to the data, which was essential to me as I had a strong community my company was built on, so owner-community fit was critical. The platform also provided access to experts if I needed them (I didn't this time, but on more significant acquisitions in the future, I might), and guides and templates for every step of the process, which was very helpful to a first-timer like myself. The team at Microacquire has continued to build and develop the platform, making it more and more valuable to both buyers and sellers, so I highly encourage you to check it out if you are in the market to sell your business or acquire a new one! When I used it, the stripe integration was only pulling recurring revenue as coded through a Stripe subscription, which my site wasn't using (due to a woocommerce plugin misconfiguration), so my revenue figures weren't accurate. However, I manually included revenue metrics on the listing, and my buyer got a copy of my most recent P&L during the due diligence process anyway. Thankfully, it wasn't a significant problem. Honestly, I wouldn't know where to begin finding a buyer for my business if it hadn't been for Microacquire. I think many times before this, it was word of mouth and knowing people who were in the market to purchase. MA put our small startup's key metrics and profile in front of hundreds of high-quality business buyers and made the process seamless. We were first-time sellers, so it was completely new territory for us, but the site gave us resources and a step-by-step process to follow, which really helped a lot. The CEO Andrew is very accessible and seems to care about improving the platform and providing massive value. The entire site was free to use with no premium features hidden or anything like that, and no commission was taken for the sale. The only issue I had with the site was that the user experience for dealing with the large influx of messages from potential buyers could use some work. It takes a few extra clicks to move between conversations, and sometimes notifications go away when you read their message, and they can get lost in the shuffle. Having a more sophisticated system for labeling potential buyers or putting them into different "shortlists" would be welcome to expand on their existing "starred" feature, as well as having arrows or other shortcuts to move between conversations more quickly. They make connecting your metrics like Stripe revenue or Google Analytics easy so you don't have to send out share links to every potential buyer to backup your claims.
