What do you like best?

Upgraded UI was user friendly, advanced ad-hoc capabilities within the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

My dislikes may be correlated around the project management approach more than the system in its self. Accela team announced a system upgrade with a new UI, look/feel features (more enhanced and FAR BETTER than the version we were working with), however, this was announced post UAT, User training, and two days before go-live. Additionally, post go-live was a rough start with the amount of bugs that made it through the cracks. The existing system functionality was robust, however, it could be more flexible. Recommendations to others considering the product:

If the system meets your business needs, it is a great system with impressive functionality to leverage. Make sure to map out your current business processes, understand the requirements and what you're looking for - validate those requirements against best practices and how Accela meets your needs prior to moving into the direction of implementing the system. The less customization, the better - and this goes for any system. It's easy to be blown away by the bells and whistles, focus on the core functionality to analyze if it meets your needs. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Since the project was a government funded initiative and I came to the project phase 2 I am not certain on the initial business problems, but some of the benefits I can speak to are -

1. Customer facing UI helped with labor efficiencies as peak licensing period resulted in hiring several temps/over-time. Less overtime was worked and the company was able to avoid head-count by hiring additional temps.

2. Turnaround time for licensing/status update - provided an electronic/easy way for customer to receive their licensing on spot (when inspection not necessary). This was a huge issue addressed by customers that was resolved.

3. Reporting Capabilities/Audit Trails that could be better leveraged Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
