What do you dislike about AbacusLaw by CARET? The monthly subscription cost seems a little steep. And the program to create my own reports is a little complex but works once you get the hang of it. I like that it is not a complicated system and that I was able to learn quickly since I am a new user. It is great for places that have multiple offices. What do you dislike about AbacusLaw by CARET? I can't seem to find anything that I do not like about it. I am new to the system and it has been a easy process so far learning everything, any problems that have come up for me are just due to the fact that I have not learned how to do those things. It makes training new employees easy and a great tool for having a calendar that is easy to view. This is great for multiple offices and is a great tool to keep everyone organized. We have used Abacus Law since 2012, and it serves as the HUB to many facets of our firm's practice. We chose Abacus over other case management software, because Abacus allowed us to customize it specifically to meet the specific needs of our legal practice. We have customized our calendar, created screens specific to the types of cases we handle, created reports, queries rules, forms, pdf forms, quick forms, and as our firm grows, we continue to customize Abacus. Abacus has made our employees more productive, and there is less chance for error when you utilize the features that are a part of Abacus. Abacus has allowed the attorneys and other support staff to stay informed of the status of the case and work being performed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AbacusLaw by CARET? We do not use Abacus Cloud. We have an in-house dedicated server for Abacus. Every morning we clear out the law temp file and manually run a backup. Then we reindex and do another backup. While this is being performed, no one can be logged in to Abacus, Message Slips, or Outlook, which causes a lot of downtimes. It would save us a lot of time if this process could be automated to run overnight. Automating updates would also be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Relatively easy to use. Good billing interface with AbacusAccounting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AbacusLaw by CARET? AbacusAccounting is very hard to use. Way too many steps for what is simple in other programs such as QuickBooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering AbacusLaw by CARET: In concept, the AbacusLaw/AbacusAccounting program would be very good. If you are a larger operation with in-house accounting or the wherewithal to outsource the finance function, I suspect it would work very well, since it is fully integrated (document generation, storage, timekeeping and billing). In practice, for a small firm (2 attorneys and one staffer), none of whom is trained in accounting or bookkeeping, it doesn't work well. Way too complex and unwieldy. AbacusAccounting is very difficult for a non-CPA or bookkeeper to use. We have not implemented the document creation feature because we don't have the time to do it ourselves, and cost for Abacus to do it is outside our budget. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
