Abacus made inputting TPN formulas pretty straightforward. Once training was completed it was not difficult to learn how to use the software and make sure it communicated to the compounding machine. It was not integrated in the EMR at the time I used it, which meant you were inputting all the TPN ingredients in one place for compounding and then putting the order for patient care in another place.
