I love Abacum’s clean and intuitive interface, which makes it easy for my finance team to work with on a daily basis. The version management feature is particularly helpful as it allows us to keep and compare different scenarios and report versions seamlessly, ensuring we are always aware of what has changed. The ability to centralize finance data, which was previously scattered across spreadsheets, has drastically reduced errors and duplicate work. This has effectively streamlined our budgeting and forecasting cycles, and enabled faster production of monthly management reports. Abacum has also significantly enhanced alignment and collaboration with other teams like commercial and sales by ensuring we share consistent numbers and assumptions, providing greater visibility to stakeholders across the company. One area that could be improved in Abacum is the flexibility for viewers within spaces. Currently, only Admins have the ability to modify a table, which restricts viewers from applying specific filters or changing the view on their own. This limitation requires us to pre-build every possible table or view for them, making the space longer and harder to navigate. Allowing controlled filtering for viewers could address this issue by enabling them to apply temporary filters or sorting on tables (on fields allowed by the Admin) without altering the main view. The ability to quickly create charts and graphs for various cases (actuals, forecast, budget etc) and compare them is incredible. Also creating a budget from the forecast has saved us so much time.

I also like the way Abacum integrates with Netsuite and how easy it is to maintain the chart of accounts and map accounting logic into economic logic for management reporting / decision-making.

Sometimes the flexibility of the platform is challenging. I sometimes know how I would do something in excel (for example using look ups / index match between data sets) but I am not sure how to do it in Abacum or it isn't possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our experience with Abacum has been very positive so far. Solutions like this often struggle to balance flexibility and automation, but Abacum manages this exceptionally well. Its modeling, data handling, and presentation features are highly adaptable, which has allowed us to seamlessly incorporate the tool into our daily operations. It is rapidly becoming our primary resource for all things related to reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. All of our data is integrated, our mappings are set up, and our models are in place. We are now looking forward to bringing a substantial number of ad hoc reports onto the platform as well. The support team has been outstanding—I'm contacted at least once a month to discuss our progress, any challenges we might be facing, and to share feedback, which they actively relay to their product team. In fact, several of our suggestions have already been implemented since we began using Abacum a few months ago. There are a few things where the platform is a bit underdeveloped (ie can be a bit slow sometimes, manual inputs vs formula coexisting well, transaction classification is difficult at our scale, auditability could be a bit better, certain allocations could be easier, etc.). But the reason we chose the platform was because we believe the team could make these things happen. They've consistently delivered. Building ad hoc reports can sometimes be a little slow, I wish there were a reporting feature that allowed you to query data in an easier manner, and the excel plugin is still maturing. The best of Abacum is the combination of a fantastic tool and a close and candid team. We've seen a real evolution from when we started to work with Abacum in late 2021 up to now. We have been interested in the FP&A tools landscape, but we feel we have the best partner in the industry. Something I wish we were made more aware of during integration was the importance of dimensions, and assigning them to our variables. It's something we learnt too late and it led to more work trying to unpick & fix where it was causing issues.
