It's not if your business is relatively simple. Then I think Excel is more than enough to manage it. Also, the thing with Abacum is implementation takes time. There is a certain cost of time that you need to put in, and I think it can take up to four to five months, to actually get it up and running. So there's a significant investment of time without getting the output right up. The ability to create custom metrics and data transformations directly in the data set has allowed us to automate our leadership team's complex pipeline requirements. We previously tried to build our custom pipeline reporting metrics directly in Salesforce (Tableau) and Mosaic but were unable to do so. Abacum releases product enhancements faster than any software platform I have ever seen - it is not uncommon for them to release one or two product updates every week - and offers more integrations to modern technology tools than its competitors. We have completed overhauled our Finance tech stack over the past year, including migrating our ERP, and chose Abacum partly based on its integration with Rillet. Finally, Abacum's Excel connector is one-of-kind among strategic finance platforms and allows teams to maintain hybrid workflows in both Excel and Abacum. **What do you dislike about Abacum?** We have experienced a few bugs in the tables and reporting (e.g., percentage variances for individual line items adding up rather than calculating at the total level). These bugs are usually either quickly resolved or the technical support team has provided a work around. We intended to use the Paylocity integration but have been unable to due the fact that Abacum's integration partner doesn't pull in some of the key fields that we use (we also had a similar issue with Mosaic). Solutions like this often struggle to balance flexibility and automation, but Abacum manages this exceptionally well. Its modeling, data handling, and presentation features are highly adaptable, which has allowed us to seamlessly incorporate the tool into our daily operations. It is rapidly becoming our primary resource for all things related to reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. All of our data is integrated, our mappings are set up, and our models are in place. We are now looking forward to bringing a substantial number of ad hoc reports onto the platform as well. The support team has been outstanding—I'm contacted at least once a month to discuss our progress, any challenges we might be facing, and to share feedback, which they actively relay to their product team. In fact, several of our suggestions have already been implemented since we began using Abacum a few months ago. The implementation process was smooth, and the team was excellent in guiding us through some complex use cases. **What do you dislike about Abacum?** There are a few things where the platform is a bit underdeveloped (ie can be a bit slow sometimes, manual inputs vs formula coexisting well, transaction classification is difficult at our scale, auditability could be a bit better, certain allocations could be easier, etc.). But the reason we chose the platform was because we believe the team could make these things happen. They've consistently delivered. Building ad hoc reports can sometimes be a little slow, I wish there were a reporting feature that allowed you to query data in an easier manner, and the excel plugin is still maturing. **What problems is Abacum solving and how is that benefiting you?** Abacum has helped get everyone in a single place for our complex budgeting and forecasting cycles, which has minimized back and forth and helped the stakeholders feel a lot more ownership around their processes, rather than having things sit in the black box that is finance at times. It's something we learnt too late and it led to more work trying to unpick & fix where it was causing issues. We signed more than a month ago, we had a schedule to follow supposedly, but very very slow response, I had to keep on following up, It took them 2 weeks to sort out my questions and they did not even review all the documents they asked from me from pre kick off call. Implementation manager did a scoping call and did not understand what the business is doing - at all. Now, we are still barely in progress and most of the work is done on my end. We have signed for a cobuild model but it seems like I have been doing mostly by myself so far. The most important part of getting a software to work at its best is the implementation and we hanging here. The incorporation of Abacum into our controlling team has been a game-changer, it has become a daily tool where we are able to control, analyze, and report all the needed information just when it's needed. The management team of the company has never been happier, they are able to make strategic decisions in a faster way, and I'm pretty sure we are just using a small piece of all that Abacum can offer. We work with large amounts of data and we were very worried about Abacum's performance, after months of working with them our fear no longer exists, the data is shown in seconds and we are playing with the many different ways to display data. I truly recommend using Abacum not just for what they offer if not for the excellent client integration and success team, that helped us with all the doubts that we had during this time. **What do you dislike about Abacum?** The modeling structure could seem a bit hard to understand at first but Abacum's team makes up for it with the magnificent training provided in the first weeks, they help you with the first set up and they make sure that you fully understand how the tool works before letting you go free. **What problems is Abacum solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a group of companies and we need to process a huge amount of data to be able to report to the management team with visual, clear and precise information. We tried with other tools but we had performance issues and the reporting options were a bit limited for us, thanks to Abacum we are able to deliver constant detailed information just in minutes to help the MNG team to take decisions! ### 50. It is really easy to use.
