## Anaplan Reviews
  ### 1. Real-Time, Flexible Modeling That Speeds Up Decision-Making

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex P. | Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

What I like most about Anaplan is how powerful it is at connecting data across the business in real time. Once a model is built the right way, you can actually trust what you’re looking at and make decisions quickly instead of chasing numbers in spreadsheets. I also really value the flexibility—whether it’s modeling financials, forecasts, or operational scenarios, you can adapt the platform to fit the problem instead of forcing the problem to fit a tool. Finally, there’s a strong sense of ownership as a builder; when something clicks and stakeholders immediately see the value, it’s very satisfying.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

What I dislike about Anaplan is that some things still feel harder than they should be, especially when trying to understand or navigate someone else’s model. Tracing references, following dependencies, and answering “what will this impact?” can be time‑consuming and fairly manual. There’s also a learning curve for new users—both builders and end users—which means a lot depends on how well the model was originally designed and documented. When models aren’t built cleanly, small changes can take longer than expected to validate and explain.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan is solving the problem of disconnected planning and decision‑making. Instead of working in silos or relying on static spreadsheets, it provides a single place where financial, operational, and strategic plans stay connected and update in real time. That benefits me because I spend far less time reconciling numbers and more time actually analyzing scenarios and answering “what if” questions. It also makes conversations with stakeholders more productive—everyone is looking at the same data, so decisions are faster and more confident.

  ### 2. Anaplan’s Real-Time Calculations Are a Game-Changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony V. | Anaplan Solution Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Intuitive dashboards for business users. Seamless APIs and CloudWorks pipelines. Fast recalcs on large models. High ROI for enterprise planning. Strong docs and community help. Smart forecasting with PlanIQ

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Too many clicks for complex tasks. Error handling still feels manual. Expensive for small use cases. Steep ramp‑up for newcomers. AI features not deeply embedded

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Anaplan, we struggled with fragmented Excel models, most times disorganized, manual consolidations, slow recalculations and limited visibility across planning cycles. Scenario planning took weeks, errors were frequent and decisions were often delayed.
After implementing Anaplan, we moved to a single, connected planning platform with real‑time calculations, automated integrations, and role‑based dashboards. Business users can now model scenarios instantly without or very less IT involvement.
This has reduced planning cycle time by ~30–40%, cut data errors by ~70% . Decisions that once took weeks now take hours, significantly improving speed, confidence and overall planning effectiveness.

  ### 3. Easy to Implement and Build, with Robust Reporting and Strong Model Connectivity

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Ease of implementation and build are both strong points. I like how you don't need any coding experience - just learn basic principles and start build. I also appreciate the robust reporting tools - visualizations, slides and customization. And of course one of the selling points of Anaplan - real time page refresh and model connections. It really makes collaboration easy.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Lack of out of the box integration tools synchronizing directly with finance systems - beside Cloudworks, all solutions require data team support.
Option to use variance on published pages is available only on management reporting pages, it would be great to have this also on interactive pages.
In classic engine it would be great to have calculation on demand - it would speed up performance and improve readability of some pages.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s one tool that all finance users can use, with real-time updates.
Users are really praising the clean and neat data visualizations and easiness of import-export of data. With Anaplan onboard planning process become more collaborative and straightforward. It also encourage knowledge sharing and continuous thinking about processes and improvements.

  ### 4. Great tool for scalable enterprise planning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shaivya K. | Anaplan Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The flexibility of the platform and its calculation engine are the biggest strengths. Anaplan allows you to model complex business logic in a transparent, scalable way without relying on traditional code, which makes it easier to iterate quickly as requirements change.

I also really value the dimensional modeling approach and the ability to connect planning across multiple functions in a single platform. From a model builder perspective, the ecosystem (UX, ALM, integrations, community, and enablement resources) makes it easier to maintain governance.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan has a steep learning curve and requires disciplined model design to stay scalable.
Anaplan is not ideal for highly transactional use cases.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan replaces fragmented spreadsheet-based planning with a connected platform that supports advanced forecasting, rapid scenario analysis, and governed processes. This results in faster planning cycles, better forecast accuracy, improved transparency, and more reliable model management as solutions scale.

  ### 5. Comprehensive Connected Planning and Real-Time Capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu B. | Senior Associate, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I appreciate the comprehensive connected planning ecosystem that Anaplan offers. I also value its real-time planning capabilities and the security features it provides.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The cost appears to be somewhat challenging in the long term. I have volunteered with an organization that transitioned from Anaplan to another tool due to cost concerns. It would be beneficial if the pricing could be reduced or optimized to be more in line with other competitors available in the market.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I worked with a client where the planning process was highly unorganized. Data was coming from multiple sources, planning was done in Excel, versions were mismatched, and there was no single source of truth. Forecast cycles took too long, manual errors were common, and leadership lacked real-time visibility to make decisions.

Anaplan helped solve these problems by centralizing data into one connected planning platform, standardizing business logic, and enabling real-time collaboration across teams. Scenarios that earlier took days could be built in minutes, and stakeholders gained instant visibility into the impact of changes.

For me, Anaplan improved the quality of my work by reducing manual effort, increasing model transparency, and allowing me to focus more on solution design and business value rather than data reconciliation.

  ### 6. Powerful Multi-Dimensional Planning with Insightful Analytics and REST API Automation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil G. | Senior Developer/Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The multi-dimensional planning capabilities help us design and develop complex solutions, and they also provide valuable analytical insights through various NUX features. REST API integration helps automate data loads, which in turn improves data quality and overall performance.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

PlanIQ/Forecastor wasn’t completely helpful for our use cases, and our internal ML team currently supports us in driving our forecasts. It would be good to have an option to create and customize the ML language so it can be used directly via Anaplan.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps the business by providing timely updates and accurate figures, which reduces the need to rely on Excel spreadsheets.

  ### 7. Flexible, Business-Friendly Connected Planning with an Outstanding API

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve M. | Director - EPM, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is very flexible. It is designed for the business and easily owned by the business which reduces the learning curve. The Anaplan API is outstanding allowing data integration from many sources. It is a true connected planning platform.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

New features are sometimes slow to be released even after being promised a feature by a certain deadline.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan is used for FP&A planning. We use it for Consolidations of Plan (with FX and eliminations), planning of SG&A by cost center, and planning by channel (Direct, Wholesale, & Web). We plan the full P&L by each channel at a store or partner level. We also use Anaplan for robust reporting.

  ### 8. User-Friendly with Room for Integration Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alessio P. | Manager - IT Commercial - Anaplan Senior Builder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like how Anaplan allows many users to contribute, review, and perform analysis planning and scenario analysis. It's also fun to use and compared to other tools for similar applications, it's easier to be trained on. You don't need to know coding at all because it's more formula-based with drag-and-drop and clicking.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I believe that integration is still a challenging area, even if there is now a new tool called ADO, which is supposed to help a lot. However, these and other tools come at an extra cost, so they are not available for all customers. More work is needed to enable seamless integration with many systems. Also, another relevant point is the ability to customize the outputs with more freedom, particularly the dashboarding for end users.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anaplan to collect data from all divisions, globally, enrich it, and project into the future. It allows many users to contribute, review, and perform analysis and scenario planning effectively.

  ### 9. Effortless to Use, Lightning-Fast Implementation and Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandre C. | Anaplan Solution Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I would say the best about Anaplan is that it's easy to use and to learn. It's also really fast to implement new functionnalities, thanks this easiness and also the way of handling a project with the Agile methodology.
What is also good is the speed of the calculations with large data I would say, if the model has been well developed.
It's also pretty easy to integrate with other ERP or other systems thanks to native connectors and Anaplan Connect or APIs.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The fact that you can do pretty much everything in Anaplan can lead to bad developments, with no following from Anaplan team regarding what the partners are developing within clients ecosystem. I would like them to be more challenging on their partner and do reviews on their own of the models made, not only at the demand of the clients or the partner.

Customer support is pretty reactive but often misses the point when subjects are complicated.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reconciliating large numbers of data, ability to have a connected tool for all the users where their input can be reflected across all the model.
Great reactivity, possibility to handle multi^ple scenarios of forecasting with numbers of different parameters, good and ergonomic UX, and a lot of possibility regarding security and users access

  ### 10. Versatile and powerful planning platform with focus on innovation, connected planning and community

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachit S. | Manager, Consulting, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like Anaplan's planning and modeling features, intelligent engine, user experience, extensibility and scalability. Anaplan connects people, data and plans like no other with their unified cloud platform. New features and functionalities are incorporated into the platform on a frequent basis which enhance the product's value proposition and usability significantly. Availability of pre-configured industry-standard apps for financial planning, supply chain and merchandising now enable faster value realization for customers and boost the product's go-to-market value proposition.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Auditability of line items can be further enhanced by adding extra features like saved views references and filter references. Detailed error logging and scheduler accuracy can be improved in Cloudworks. Native support for allowing input/breakback and calculation logic in the same line item can be added to further boost platform adoption in Retail Planning use cases. Anaplan Data Orchestrator and Merchandising apps can benefit from improved product stability and performance to boost adoption and implementation scope for partners.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan's versatility and continued investment into product innovation is one of its key differentiators. Using Anaplan, comprehensive planning solutions that facilitate quick decision-making can be built for all critical functions - Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, HR and Workforce, Marketing etc. As a partner, this enables me to implement best-in-class solutions for our customers and their planning needs.

  ### 11. Versatility and ease of use is key

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krista D. | Engagement Manager/Solutions Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan allows the "business" to own the toold rather than IT. This allows areas like finance and sales to make changes and updates to the logic without having to wait for IT to make the changes. Plus, the changes are easy becasue the "logic" is behaves in the same way as other programs used by the business. Anaplan also allows the business to design the tool to cater to the specific needs of the business such as terminoly and allowing for unique processes.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

There are quite a few ways to connect data to Anaplan, but not always a direct connection. However, Anaplan is constantly evolving as well.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan can be used as a tool to centralize many processes. Each department within a business can create a process in Anaplan that fits their specific needs while also being able to aggregate the results into a summary level (such as corporate planning) all within the same tool with real live connectivity.

  ### 12. Highly Flexible, Steep Learning Curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonard B.

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like that Anaplan is a cloud-based hyper platform that is primarily used to connect enterprise-wide planning across finance, sales, HR, and supply chain. It solves the issue of disconnected planning by unifying finance and sales which I find really helpful. I appreciate the ability to align high-level strategic planning with detailed operational planning, which allows for flexible modeling users can utilize for a repository for master data and planning. I find balancing data with security to ensure scalability is beneficial. I also use it with ETL tools and BI tools, which works well for my needs. The initial setup was highly flexible, albeit with a high learning curve. I would definitely recommend Anaplan to a friend or colleague as I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I find issues with insufficient model design and poor maintenance of browser network. There's also a need to restart my machine and re-authenticate into Anaplan, which can be frustrating. Balancing data with security to ensure scalability also seems to be a challenge. Additionally, while Anaplan is highly flexible, there's a high learning curve.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan solves disconnected planning by unifying finance and sales, aligning high-level strategic and detailed operational planning, and offering flexible modeling for master data and planning.

  ### 13. Empowers Business Users with Flexible, User-Friendly Low-Code Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ken C. | Senior Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

This is a low-code/no-code platform that empowers business users to take ownership of their applications, reducing dependence on IT and eliminating common bottlenecks. Its hyper-block technology supports real-time collaboration throughout the organization, helping to break down silos. The platform also gives you the flexibility to define your own models without being constrained by rigid structures or limitations. It's user friendly UX allows model builder to build highly customized UX with KPIs, Charts and Conditional formatted tables, hence improving overall user experience.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The extra efforts in handling sparsity of the model; we need to spend significant efforts in building concatenated list to reduce sparsity of the model to gain better performance. Polaris seems to be an answer for that, however, the costs of the license would be higher.
The limitation in reporting, currently we are restricted to do slice and dice on the reporting dimensions included in the module. It would be nice if we could also include properties of the reporting dimensions to achieve something similar in BI tools.
The current solution on this would be exporting the data with the properties and build those kinds of reports in BI tools.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan effectively replaces disconnected Excel-based processes by creating a single, cloud-based planning environment where all teams work from the same real-time data. Instead of juggling multiple spreadsheets across departments, Anaplan connects finance, sales, supply chain, and HR into one integrated model.

This eliminates version-control issues, reduces manual consolidation, and ensures consistent assumptions and formulas across the enterprise. Users can collaborate simultaneously, run live “what-if” scenarios, and update plans instantly — without waiting for manual data rollups.

By removing Excel silos, Anaplan improves data accuracy, speeds up decision-making, and shifts focus from spreadsheet maintenance to value-added analysis. The result is a more agile, transparent, and collaborative planning culture across the company.

  ### 14. Flexibility and Power for Complex planning tasks.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evgeny S. | Senior Solution Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is highly capable and can handle any task with impressive flexibility and power. It is also able to manage large amounts of data effectively.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is a very expensive tool, but it can be worthwhile if you develop a well-defined use case. Although Anaplan is capable of handling almost any task, it's important to consider whether a particular task truly needs to be done within Anaplan, or if it would be more cost-effective to handle it elsewhere. We should remember, that Anaplan is the planning tool at first. For example, raw data transformation might be better performed outside of Anaplan to save on performance / cost.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having worked in the consultancy business for many years, I deal with clients' challenges on a daily basis. Anaplan supports its clients across a wide range of use cases, but what stands out most is how Anaplan serves as a single source of truth for key planning processes within a company. This centralization helps eliminate data silos and allows Anaplan to function as an effective process orchestrator.

  ### 15. Smarter Forecasts, Stronger Decisions through Integrated Finance Planning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shruti M. | Senior Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is a cloud-based software platform primarily designed for Connected Planning, and it has now expanded its capabilities to include finance, sales, supply chain, retail, and workforce management. The platform enables users to conduct dynamic scenario analysis, variance analysis, and generate real-time reports within the application. As a low-code solution, Anaplan can be easily managed by business users after the initial implementation. Recently, Anaplan introduced Financial Close and Consolidation solutions, providing a more comprehensive financial offering. Additionally, the product features prebuilt applications that help organizations reduce implementation time by two to three weeks.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan has consistently faced challenges due to its expensive licensing model and performance limitations when handling large datasets. The basic AI and Gen AI features are not only costly but also have a very limited user base, as their use cases are quite narrow. Achieving scalability with Anaplan comes at a significant expense. Additionally, its ad hoc analysis capabilities, especially in Excel, are much weaker compared to other EPM tools, which forces users to rely solely on the application.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan has provided us with a comprehensive end-to-end connected planning solution. The product's modeling capabilities are straightforward and do not rely heavily on other products or tools. Recent improvements in third-party software integration, particularly through ADO, have made it much easier and faster to pull data from various sources. Anaplan's support service is very responsive, typically replying within a few hours. Software updates are seamless and do not require assistance from the development or support teams. Anaplan has been valuable for both opportunity and demand planning, enabling us to identify opportunities that are likely to convert quickly into sales. Additionally, it provides us with useful aging reports.

  ### 16. Continual Advancement of FP&A Capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan allows for an enterprise approach to planning and forecasting, allowing for collaboration while maintaining consistency in approach, calculation, and reporting. Anaplan models that allow for controlled access and user role-driven experiences, ensuring Apps can be built to expose the right data to the right users at the right time. The inbuilt Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) features allows for controlled release of model changes to end users and allows for segregation of development, testing and production usage.

As a SaaS offering there are continually new features being developed which support both the end user and model builder experiences. Anaplan is continually refining based on customer feedback to address key features to advance modeling capabilities and improve ease of use. In recent years the App/UX layer has advanced greatly, allowing for dynamic formatting/visualizations, more curated user interactions and less reliance on model builders to make structural changes to the model.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Lack native multi-select functionality and conditional formatting in the App layer can be a bit clunky and require workarounds or supplemental model development. Model to model connections require integration with no ability to share data in real time thought advancements in functionality like Workflow added more options/capability to support end user driven activity.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dispersion of sensitive information in a controlled manner (selective access), the connection of disparate teams on a single platform, reduction in forecast process timelines.

  ### 17. Unmatched Scalability and Flexibility for All Your Planning Needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nagaraju N. | Senior Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Scalability and flexibility in planning is the cornerstone feature of this product. Errors associated with excel based planning can be eliminated and much more can be done with productivity improvements. The calculation engine Hyperblock is the foundation that powers this tool. The ability to customize for any type of planning be it sales, finance, supply chain, headcount etc helps in exploiting synergies of different orgs. In addition, the new features like combined grids, ADO etc will definitely make it a serious product in the market.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

More AI features are required for the increasingly competitive industry. The product roadmap is already filled with AI roadmap so it is just a matter of time. The tool is costly and the pricing definitely needs to be standardized and made transparent for all customers. Also, there should be focus to replace visualization tools like PowerBI by bringing in visual planning. This has been addressed with geo-mapping feature that is released recently but Anaplan should be bringing in and constantly improving the features like these. On the upsteam, the integration ability with other systems should be made easily. ADO is definitely a game-changer but it needs to be bi-directional.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We plan our sales performance and territory management with Anaplan. It has been great and suits our use-case well. We dynamically manage territories and Anaplan has improved our productivity by mostly eliminating our manual workload. The sales cycle, which used to take months, has been reduced typically to days. The time to value is great, and they are making a lot of improvements to the product roadmap which we are looking forward to. Also, we identify the potential of a territory and it helps make decisions quickly and manage workloads of reps. We are also using it to segment and prioritize the accounts within different businesses.

  ### 18. Using Anaplan for connected Supply Chain Planning use case

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit C. | Business Solution Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is relatively low cost platform which provided business a quick ROI.
I am using Anaplan since year 2015 and switched my career to consulting, before year 2015 I used to work as a Head of Production Planning and Logistics for one of the Tata Group entity. I was responsible for end to end supply chain, production planning , distribution planning , after market and logistics planning. It was very difficult for me to do planning, budgeting, supply chain provisions in excel spread sheets at granular level of details, considering huge count of SKU's I was not able to create detailed rough cut /short term planning at product or product-customer level, because of which I always faced challenges while planning plant capacity, planning constraint based production etc. It was always difficult for me to commit production / distribution to sales team, impact on inventory carrying cost.

From 2015 I have started using Anaplan and I implemented many end to end Anaplan models in the field of Production planning, inventory planning , capacity planning, S&OP, demand planning, supply planning for multiple global customers and I really can see my clients taking huge benefit out of Anaplan in terms of profitability or cost reduction. With proper planning company can decide their strategy to make business more profitable. Anaplan is a great tool.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Nothing to dislike, I think Anaplan is a great and competitive tool at this point of time in market.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solved - Rule based allocation / Allocations using Anaplan optimizer, capacity planning, production planning, distribution planning, Sales and operations planning, connected supply chain and finance planning.

Benefits -
Anaplan is very flexible to use
Takes extremely less time for planning

  ### 19. The best solution for your planning and process needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander D. | Solution architect, team lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like that the user experience is really flexible and meets the main needs of most enterprises. The Connected Planning experience a good implementation can give to its customers is a high-end solution that works really well. The platform constantly expands and is market competitive, the multiple integration options allow the system to communicate and seamlessly fit in any existing environment.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Having worked with both the gritty back-end and not just the polished front-end, I see areas where improvements could be made, particularly in how the dimensions function and how the engine operates, as well as new features that can make the quality of work significantly better (e.g. view filters on import creation). Since this is a live system, any blocking action can significantly disrupt the user experience for all users involved.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As organizations scale their planning across functions, regions, and business units, the process often becomes fragmented, difficult to optimize, and costly to maintain. Anaplan consolidates disconnected workflows into a single, intuitive platform, enabling teams to collaborate in real time, adapt quickly to change, and drive decisions based on one source of truth. By replacing manual, siloed planning with a connected and dynamic model, Anaplan transforms complex processes into sustainable, repeatable, and insight-driven planning cycles.

  ### 20. Transforms Datasets with Customizable Dashboards

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jyotbir L. | Associate Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like Anaplan's ability to configure datasets exactly as I want and build dashboards around them that are both numeric and visual. The unique feature within Anaplan that I appreciate is the ability to add a variable within the overall dataset. This allows us to update just a single variable, which then updates the entire dataset and dashboard simultaneously. This feature is particularly useful when managing risk factors across multiple companies.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I think role-based access could use an improvement. It wasn't very flexible at the time I was using it. Everyone used to have access to the same dataset, and there was just one system administrator who needed to assign roles to everyone. The data within the roles wasn't very comfortable, so we had to assign administrator roles to almost everyone.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anaplan to structure datasets into dashboards, making it easy to visualize and directly see financial metrics for multiple companies. Configuring variables like risk factors enhances decision-making without updating entire dashboards.

  ### 21. Connected Planning at Its Best—Fast, Seamless Model Updates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arcade M. | EPM Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The part I like about Anaplan the most is CONNECTED PLANNING at its best. Due to its hyper engine, everything is connected such that one change is easily transmitted to the whole model.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The only thing I don't like is that it is too expensive for the mid market, but that is partially understandable since it is an enterprise software.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Financial Planning, Consolidation.

  ### 22. Break down planning siloes with Anaplan

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rodolfo H. | EPM Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan brings different departments together on a single, cloud-based platform. Instead of working in separate spreadsheets or systems, both teams share one source of truth — linking headcount, compensation, and workforce plans directly to financial forecasts and budgets, for example.

The advance and easy to implement security allows you have multiple profiles on the same page and any update can be automatically reflected on the end-user reports. Anaplan has recently released new functionalities that make it easier to apply AI forecasting and the Polaris engine allows you to analyse very sparse datasets and slice and dice the data in new and creative ways.

By breaking down silos, Anaplan helps organizations align operations and talent strategy with financial goals — ensuring plans stay agile, transparent, and tightly integrated across both functions.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Downsides of Anaplan revolve around the time needed to certify users around the platform, lack of automated connectors with other EPM tools and lack of customization for the reports 9even though this area has shown great improvement in recent years with many interesting items on the pipeline).

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan has allowed us to integrate different data sources into the same engine, thereby implementing a real connected planning, shortening planning times by 50% and centralizing the template.

  ### 23. Fast, easy and effective way to Enhance Business Processes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit K. | Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan's powerful and in-memory calculation engine helps provide near real-time experience to the users
High scalability, Auditing, and all the other features make Anaplan an enterprise solution
Customer support helps get through any hurdles at a much faster pace

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Its single-threaded nature makes it sometimes hung if something is running already, for instance, a data load process or something related to a wrong command, etc. which puts all the users on a halt for a few seconds

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are utilizing Anaplan's computing capabilities for enhancing the planning, budgeting, and analytics process for our Sales and Finance domains to speed up the process and provide better insights for decision making. We recently used Anaplan for Sales Incentive payouts calculation, where in the payout mechanism was highly customized and Anaplan was flexible enough to cover for all the requirements.

  ### 24. Anaplan as a flexible planning tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lukas M. | Solution Design HUB Sr. Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is a tool that is easy to use, not only for end users but also for developers building planning applications. The structure, building blocks, and user-friendly ("Excel-like") modeling interface make this tool suitable for a wide range of use cases, from financial forecasting and sales performance to supply chain. One tool enables the chaining of different areas, creating a unified environment with real-time collaboration that allows end users to view the latest updates made within the team or by other teams.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The tool lacks some essential features that could help developers and users build and utilize the tool more effectively and fully leverage its potential. Lack of versioning, partial promotions, multifilter, or long rollback times are some of the most missing features.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan helps eliminate the offline files created by different teams during the financial planning process. The result is that users have one source of truth with the real-time view, so there are not multiple versions of different files flowing from one team/user to another. Another benefit is that the process is unified based on the previously defined and agreed logic, and everybody follows the same steps and calculations. This helps to build more precise and suitable plans based on the same sources in a predefined timeline.

  ### 25. Anaplan acts as a unified system for all financial planning needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vignesh M. | Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I've been using Anaplan for the past 10 years, and witnessed Anaplan ongoing product enhancements.
1.Regular updates ranging from modeling capabilities, user interface improvements, user management, machine learning based forecasting, workflow automation features makes Anaplan an increasingly powerful and user friendly platform.
2. Implementation time with Anaplan is notably shorter compared to other Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) tools, allowing organizations to deploy solutions faster and realize value more quickly

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Overall, I really enjoy modeling in Anaplan and its capabilities. However, I believe there’s still room for improvement in the user experience (UX) to enhance usability. Additionally, some Excel functionalities are not yet available in Anaplan, which occasionally requires workarounds

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

Refer to the Apps in Anaplan App hub and check best practises articles like Planual and other Posts in community.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been using Anaplan for over a decade, applying it across various financial use cases like Real Estate Cashflow modelling, Expenses and Financial Planning and Forecasting.
Our first implementation replaced a manual process involving 100+ spreadsheets from asset managers across locations. With Anaplan, we now have real-time, consolidated reporting on a single platform managing over 100 properties, eliminating time spent on data collection and manual reporting.

  ### 26. Flexible, Reliable, But Requires Strong Builders

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I appreciate Anaplan's flexibility in allowing me to model nearly any business logic, regardless of complexity or unique company requirements, while keeping it clean and scalable. Despite its powerful capabilities, Anaplan operates with surprising speed, enabling quick model updates, such as changes in compensation plans or new scenarios, without needing to rebuild everything from scratch. This rapid adaptability allows me to transform ideas into functional models in a matter of days, rather than waiting for longer development cycles. I love the transparency Anaplan offers, as it allows me to trace numbers back to their source, providing an opportunity to address and fix discrepancies directly, which shifts planning from detective work to genuine operational intelligence. This traceability ensures that every metric can be followed back to its origin, facilitating instant issue resolution. The combination of flexibility and transparency makes planning faster, more efficient, and significantly more reliable.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I find that Anaplan presents a steep learning curve for new builders. Understanding elements like sparsity, model architecture, and integrating lists, modules, and formulas can be overwhelming at first. Even for experienced users, navigating through Anaplan’s UX can be time-consuming due to quirks in the interface. Additionally, while data integrations have improved over time, they still fall short of the seamless and modern experience that many clients expect. Anaplan’s performance can decline if a model isn’t perfectly architected, leaving little room for error in design. Overall, while it’s a powerful tool, it requires skilled builders and thoughtfully planned governance to make the most of its capabilities.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anaplan to replace chaotic spreadsheets with scalable models, providing real-time visibility and a single source of truth for planning processes. It enables flexible, transparent modeling, accelerating planning and reducing errors.

  ### 27. Go to cloud tool for enterprise performance management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kanishq G. | Anaplan Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

> As an long time implementation partner of Anaplan , can definitely vouch for its native cloud system where it is built for ease of implementing building of models as well as intuitive and collaborative UX features which make business users understand and use Anaplan efficiently
> Latest features like workflow and ADO have been incorporated which allows data management and loading in house leading to greater data quality loaded into models and also managing tasks like approvals and automation easily
> Vast customer support portal and community wherein there are new ideas as well as readily available solutions
> Integration to and from Anaplan for database and well as BI tools and also custom integrations possible using API.
> Excellent safety and security features to ensure role as well as granular access for users can be managed

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

> In initial phase can be a bit tricky to get around especially for users with new /limited experience
>Essentially a planning tool , not data and BI tool completely so for BI features , need to link to external tools for rich reports and charts although new UX provide great options
> Bulk adding of users in a workspace is not possible.
> Lesser use of AI features for now

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

> FP&A - inherently a EPM tool meant for financial planning and analysis , there are a variety of features to manage financial planning like versions for scenario management , time base functions to calculate forecast plan based on actuals
> Seamless integration to load organizational data and feature of having a hub so that across different use cases right type of data is pushed and data is managed at one place centrally
> User experience - With languid features of new UX , business users can easily use Anaplan in order of the way they can and also perform features like exporting the grids as pdfs and inputting data which immediately edits in the backend and recalculates all logic simultaneously leading to real time planning.

  ### 28. Unmatched Scalability and Flexibility for Any Business Process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

There is a large push to out of the box applications so increase time to value. I understand why this makes sense as not every company has the funds and capacity to implement a tool from scratch, but Anaplan has been very successful help companies implement the business process that fits them best.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At my company, we rely on it to monitor our staffing across projects, track project margins, forecast deliverables, and handle many other tasks. It serves as a central hub where everyone can see how we are progressing toward our goals and where any issues can be flagged. This setup has made my job much easier, as project managers can update their own items without needing my constant involvement, ensuring I always have access to the most current reports I need.

  ### 32. Anaplan a pwerful cloud tool for planning and forecasting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabien J. | Anaplan Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

- It's easy set-up - no dedicated server needed (no IT involvement needed)
- No coding skills are needed. Pretty much anyone that can build excel models can build models in Anaplan
- Granular read/write access control by user
- System of record
- Powerful and flexible
- Connected models

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

- Dashboard formatting
- Poor data visualization
- Slow to push community requested features
- When reaching the maximum size of the workspace, models tend to ger slower
- Poor reporting capabilities
- Poor customer support

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

If you are looking for a platform that requires minimum effort to set-up and can provide the ttols needed for a fully connected planning, then Anaplan is ideal for you.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Anaplan for planning and forecasting company-wide sales and revenue. It helps us consolidate inputs from different teams, regions and tools into a single platform, which makes the planning process more consistent and less reliant on spreadsheets. Before Anaplan, we used Excel, and it was hard to keep everything aligned—especially when we needed to update numbers or run different scenarios. Now we can do that much more easily and quickly. The main problems Anaplan helps us with are 1) Having multiple versions of the forecast/plan and not knowing which is the final one, 2) managing the read/write access to the forecast/plan, 3) when a new scenario modeling was needed, it would take us significant time, 4) loading data into our forecast tool (excel) was a manual and tedious process, 5) Updating presentation decks with the latest forecast/plan

  ### 33. Anaplan is a powerful Excel replacement with endless possible uses.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Venture Capital & Private Equity | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I love the ease of building in Anaplan compared to the Excel documents I used to work with. The syntax is straightforward, and the drill-down feature makes it very easy to troubleshoot any issues while building out a User Story. Anaplan takes out all the validation issues that come along with end-users "fat fingering" a key and erasing data. Also, the history feature where you can view any change to a specific cell has been incredibly useful. When troubleshooting issues with end-users since I can see the exact action they ran and what order they performed the steps.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

My major issue with Anaplan is the concurrency issues when running processes or editing cells. The first complaint I hear from any client is that there is a blue box on their screen preventing them from entering data. I have minimized the time the actions run by following the best practices, but when there are multiple users in the system, it will inevitably happen. I know that I could remove actions from the end-users, but the clients ask for a way to input then submit. So therefore, I have to have a submission action.

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

Anaplan is a sleek and powerful tool that can help you escape the large, slow, clunky Excel files you're dealing with today.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem I run across with all clients is the need to move from Excel because the file is too large and will not load/perform properly. Anaplan is the perfect tool for these cases because it can replicate excel almost precisely, giving the clients comfort, while also being a much more powerful tool that can handle large amounts of data without performance issues.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Requires a good amount of knowledge to use the pre-defined functions. High license costs for Anaplan users.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improve business process agility
Enhance decision making
Drive revenue growth
Improve business process outcomes

  ### 35. Clear YTD/MTD Quota Attainment That Makes Commissions Easy to Understand

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The actual attainment against the quota is clearly distinguished with YTD and MTD numbers. That clearly shows the commission that I will draw.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I do not find any challenges or disliking features in Anaplan

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan clearly analyzes my performance in terms of targets and achievements. That give me a clear idea of where am I in terms of numbers and how much I need to achieve.

  ### 36. Powerful Engine with Improved Reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I have been using Anaplan for over five years across various workstreams such as budgeting, headcount planning, open role management, regulatory, and more. I find Anaplan's ability to consolidate large quantities of data invaluable in creating single source of truth reports on an enterprise scale. It also allows me to run large scenario calculations quickly, which is essential for our operations. Anaplan's high-performance calculation engine stands out as a powerful tool that I rely on heavily. Additionally, over the last year, I have noticed significant improvements in the reporting capabilities, particularly the release of combined grids. This enhancement has been a major help as there is now a significant focus on improving the cosmetic capabilities within the tool for generating clean-formatted reports, which I truly appreciate.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I find Anaplan's reporting capabilities to still be an area of weakness compared to other tools, despite the tangible improvements. The limitation in the New UX, where there is a 'six card' maximum across a dashboard, is also restrictive. Additionally, the initial setup of Anaplan requires a significant amount of time, effort, and expertise, which can be challenging.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anaplan to consolidate large data, create enterprise-level single source reports, and run large scenario calculations quickly, benefiting from its powerful calculation engine and improved reporting capabilities.

  ### 37. Anaplan is a great business friendly tool that can save you from Excel

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is a cloud based tool that can be access from any web browser and even mobile devices. It can store billions of data points and has native security and user access management capabilities. It is extremely flexible and customizable where it can be implemented for use cases across sales, finance, it, marketing, and many more.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan can relatively be implemented incorrectly making the tool slow and unusable. This leads to the need of an Anaplan expert to help develop the initial application to ensure that the overall architecture is built sustainaby.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most Anaplan implementations help teams get out of the pains of Excel. I have used Anaplan for FP&A, Project Planning, Inventory Planning, and Territory and Quota Planning.
Anaplan allows many users to interact with the same information and conduct their planning without running into version control issues.

  ### 40. Highly Adaptable Platform That Grows with Your Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The platform's modularity accommodates even the most specialized business processes, enabling us to have the platform adapt to our business needs rather than forcing our business to adapt to the platform.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The platform lacks extensibility, which has forced us to create several workarounds to better integrate it with our process automation. Features released at each initial GA stage often feel incomplete or fall short of what was promised on the roadmap. That said, these features do tend to improve over time and eventually align with the original vision. We've also experienced moderate to significant cost increases during each contract negotiation, particularly when there are changes to platform features.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform offers strong data governance, providing a single source of truth for forecasting approaches. Its forecasting models are straightforward and easy to understand, and the data integration processes are also simple to follow.

  ### 41. Planning tool that does most of it well

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jack c. | Associate Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

With a solid foundation of data, integrations, financial models, the tool can be as flexible as the company needs. The code is easy to understand and easily built out with the proper talent (either in house or contracted). Users do not need extensive architecture knowledge to stand up models and then connect the pipes together. This allows teams to trial and error fairly quickly to build new use cases. The ability to manage a large portion of the infrastructure within the function and outside of IT is also very appealing. Typically, finance functions rely on IT to perform regular tasks and wait for results - with Anaplan, a lot of those activities can remain with the business. There are a variety of integration tools available as well as native tooling that can support an enterprise.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Without major talent, the models can quickly go awry and be poorly designed. Though the functionality may work, it might be less performant or create complexities when trying to adjust existing logic. Talent is also a large factor when considering this tool as it requires either building a team in house or contracting out. With contractors, you run the risk of knowledge gaps & lack of documentation for proprietary processes. To facilitate the implementation phase, business owners need to actively participate and devote a large number of hours to support the build. This is expensive to manage with larger organizations and could be less likely with smaller organizations. On the support side, you may contract out activities but there is a ramp up time that companies need to factor in (though this is true with most tools). The pricing model is quickly evolving to a subscription based model (again not uncommon amongst most SaaS platforms these days). Customer support is fairly basic and can be escalated, but is cumbersome during critical periods.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FP&A and close use cases at the moment, but are exploring additional use cases as we grow. As a global enterprise, we have performed several M&A activities that resulted in many planning processes & Excel-based packages. The tool consolidates all activity into 1 tool and eases corporate's requirement for consolidations. The tool also acts as the single source of truth for the forecast/budget and allows finance teams globally to perform their close reconciliations. There is a large automation piece factored in so users do not need to update Excel sheets manually every period or forecast cycle. This is a major time saver and resolves most user errors when managing manual calculations. The tool also consolidates master data so all teams operate on 1 standard and prevents the misstatement of KPIs based on segregated hierarchies. Overall, Anaplan is the starting point to create consistency and flexibility in how we manage our FP&A processes.

  ### 42. ANAPLAN PRINCIPALS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey K. | VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

MANY USERS FIND ANAPLAN USER-FRIENDLY INTERFACE EASY TO USE, WITH AN INTUITIVE DESIGN THAT SIMPLIFIES THE PLANNING PROCESS.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

WHILE MANY FIND THE PLATFORM USER-FRIENDLY, SOME USERS HAVE NOTED THAT THE INTERFACE CAN BE COMPLEX, AND NOT VERY INTUITIVE, PARTICULARLY FOR NEW USERS.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ANAPLAN ALLOWS USERS FLEXIBILITY AND CUSTOMIZATION TO CREATE TAILORED SOLUTIONS THAT ADAPT TO DIVERSE BUSINESS NEEDS WITHOUT EXTENSIVE CODING.

  ### 43. Flexible, User-Friendly with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sonal T.

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I love Anaplan's flexibility and ease of use, especially its cloud-based, low-code platform that allows for intuitive navigation. The customer support is fantastic and responsive. The advanced features and continuous updates keep up with market demands, ensuring seamless user experiences. Anaplan's ability to solve problems by providing real-time data integration and advanced security is exceptional. The scenario-based modeling for forecasting, budgeting, and planning is highly useful for clients.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

I would like to see a place where I can test all the formulas before deploying them. This would make things more efficient for model builders. Additionally, I feel that the UX and other pages of Anaplan could be more intuitive. Another area for improvement is being able to model without worrying about model size and workspace size. Addressing these issues could enhance the overall user experience and make it easier to manage models.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Anaplan resolves data disconnect by bringing teams together on a single platform, reducing errors and enhancing collaboration. It's intuitive and easy to use, facilitating real-time data integration and advanced forecasting, which our clients find particularly beneficial.

  ### 44. Feature-Rich and Responsive, But UX Needs Modernization

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan has added a ton of features over the last year and seems like they really are listening to feedback. Workflow has improved immensely. The new calculation engine addresses major concerns of the past version. And now with combined grids, that solves for one of the largest headaches in development.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

A key dislike of the platform - at times the UX pages can look clunky and old fashioned. Especially when compared to some competitors solutions from best in class reporting tools like Tableau.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan can solve for tons of problems - lately I've used for budget forecasting, FP&A, SaaS revenue and Capacity Planning

  ### 46. Anaplan Architecture and Functionality from a Model Builder Viewpoint

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinayak M. | Sr consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

From a model builder’s perspective, what I like best about Anaplan is its flexibility and the control it provides over building complex planning models without needing traditional coding skills. The platform’s intuitive interface allows me to design and customize models that fit unique business requirements, combining data from multiple sources into a single, connected planning environment.

Anaplan’s in-memory engine is powerful and supports real-time calculations, which means changes in one part of the model immediately update all related calculations. This instant feedback is invaluable for testing scenarios and ensuring data accuracy. The drag-and-drop functionality and modular structure make it easy to organize data and logic logically, improving maintainability and scalability.

Another key advantage is the ability to create reusable components like lists, modules, and line items, which saves time and helps maintain consistency across models. The platform also encourages collaboration by allowing multiple users to work on the same model simultaneously, with role-based access controls ensuring data security.

While there is a learning curve, especially with complex formula building and model optimization, the extensive community support and training resources make it manageable. Overall, Anaplan empowers model builders to deliver agile, robust planning solutions that can quickly adapt to changing business needs, which is highly rewarding.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

What I don’t like about Anaplan is the performance slowdown when working with large or highly complex models. As the size of the model grows—especially with millions of cells, multiple dimensions, or intricate formula logic—calculations can take much longer to complete. This lag impacts day-to-day usability, causing delays when entering data, refreshing dashboards, or running scenario analyses. This becomes more noticeable when multiple users are collaborating simultaneously, sometimes leading to timeouts or frustration during critical planning cycles.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Anaplan to streamline our Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes for a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) client. Before Anaplan, the client struggled with disconnected Excel-based planning, limited visibility across supply and demand, and frequent stockouts or overproduction.

Anaplan helped centralize and automate their planning process. The MPS model enabled planners to balance supply with demand using real-time data, while the MRP model calculated material requirements based on production plans, inventory levels, and lead times. This helped reduce excess inventory and improved service levels.

The scope of the project included demand inputs, inventory planning, BOM explosion, capacity checks, and purchase planning across multiple manufacturing locations. With Anaplan, the client achieved better visibility, faster planning cycles, and improved decision-making. It also allowed cross-functional collaboration between supply planners, procurement, and production teams.

Overall, Anaplan addressed key business challenges like manual errors, siloed data, and lack of agility in supply planning—resulting in a more resilient and responsive supply chain.

  ### 47. User-Friendly with Powerful Planning Insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine P. | Sales Operations Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

I like how Anaplan is user-friendly and maps out the structure needed to build out a successful sales operations model. I appreciate Anaplan's scalability and real-time insights on planning. The adoption of AI makes it a lot easier to plan. The initial setup was seamless.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

It can be cumbersome as it can be a steep learning curve. It doesn't work well with a lot of large datasets.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Anaplan to organize territory planning with historical trends, and I like its user-friendly structure for sales operations. Its scalability and real-time insights, coupled with AI adoption, make planning easier.

  ### 48. Anaplan is my preferred platform for modeling FP&A processes and producing connected forecasts.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew C. | Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The most helpful aspect of Anaplan is that it gives business users the ability to build models, i.e. planning, budgeting, and forecasting models, that are customized to their business needs. Models can also be built to incorporate data from almost any source, into the hundreds of millions of data points (rows/columns/cells), without compromising on performance or detail.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan's customizability can also be a double-edged sword. Although there are more and more out-of-the-box solutions being built and provided by Anaplan and 3rd parties, an organization will most likely have to expend significant resources to implement.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan is helping me to build PBF models that connect all levels of the FP&A organization (from analysts to leadership) and beyond to other organizations throughout companies. With Anaplan you can provide large datasets and detailed models to produce detailed forecasts at the lowest levels, and easily consolidate and aggregate those forecasts to produce high-level reporting. Leadership can use these reports to analyze KPI's, simulate scenarios, strategize moves, make decisions, develop goals, and set targets.

  ### 49. Unmatched Flexibility for Financial Planning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nitesh K. | Anaplan Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is best tool for Financial planning. Anaplan gives you the flexibility to design the solution based on the organizations requirement. It is very flexible as we start from scratch and we dont have any rigid prebuilt template that we have to follow. It is very easy to use

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The reporting functionality in Anaplan leaves much to be desired.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan is helping in standardizing the process across organization. It gives an easy view of the reports to the management which were spread across multiple excel sheets.

  ### 50. Anaplan for Sales Compensation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is very flexible, highly customizable, provides faster implementation and scalability

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Requires technical expertise to maintain, Limited version control & DevOps functionality

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Anaplan for sales compensation. Our old process was spreadsheet based - so it was very fragmented, manual, and difficult to maintain. This often led to inconsistencies, errors, and a lack of visibility for both admins and end users. We also lacked proper access controls for sensitive compensation data.. With Anaplan, we’ve been able to centralize our data, standardize our calculations, and streamline our process better. The platform has brought greater accuracy and transparency for our end ours on how compensation is calculated and communicated.
