What problems is 5X solving and how is that benefiting you?
5X is leveraging a technology stack that I stood up prior to determining who would assist me in the development and engineering efforts. In addition to the third party products that comprise the majority of the stack, we use 5X IDE for scheduling and orchestration (taking on the role of some dbt and Dagster that would have otherwise been deployed).
So far, our typical cadence is that I will define scope and configure the initial ingestion connectors to pull data from the systems of record and land it to our lakehouse. 5X is dealing with everything from that point through to the visualizations. We haven't done it yet (though I have a couple in the immediate future), but a custom ingestion/integration would also fall under the scope of the 5X team. This arrangement has allowed me to focus on strategy and vision, while overseeing the architecture and data models from a high level (as a data architect by trade, I really enjoy walking through the proposed structures and weighing in here and there, but not necessarily feeling the burden to have to determine every detail of the models myself). It is also exposing enterprise reporting for the very first time - my company has typically had to rely on a weekly pulse-check, but now has the agency to answer questions in real-time without an expensive ERP license.
