What do you like best about 3Play Media?

What I like best is the accuracy of the captions for our videos. 3Play creates more accurate captions than what YouTube can auto-generate. Some services can boast about 90+% accuracy, but if even a few words are wrong, they can completely change the context of a sentence, so having high accuracy is incredibly important. What do you dislike about 3Play Media?

I wish it was easier to add in information to help with captioning. For instance, when working on a graduation video where there is a long time reading names, it would be great to easily be able to add in a text doc with list of names to be included in the captions. What do you like best about 3Play Media?

The platform is intuitive, and ordering captions takes mere moments. Linking to Vimeo was easy so that videos could be easily selected and captions automatically uploaded once complete. Transcripts can be easily checked and edited. The feature to share an expiring link with a colleague who doesn't have an account has also been helpful. Longer videos can be complex and time-consuming to caption in-house, and using 3Play has unlocked our team's capacity for producing content while maintaining our commitment to accessibility. What do you dislike about 3Play Media?

What problems is 3Play Media solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using 3Play, we would use an automatic captioning generator and work through and edit/correct until accurate. We'd then download the captions, convert to a transcript and manually upload them. For our longer videos, in particular 20 minutes+, this job reduced the team's capacity to get their work done in other areas. The features of automation and the high-quality captioning service provided by 3Play has enabled us to spend our time in more meaningful ways while also maintaining our commitment to accessibility. I currently work with 3Play in coordination with the Captioned Media Department. As the coordinator, I process hundreds of files on a daily basis. What do you like best about 3Play Media?

I appreciate having a dedicated account manager. Due to the sheer volume of files that we need to be processed on a daily basis, it is imperative that we have access to a live person who can help if we experience any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We fill a huge need for the University by utilizing 3Play Media. The service that they provide allows us the time to dedicate to other tasks that are equally important. It takes the need to hire additional transcribers out of our hands, which is nice. The automated ability to transfer files from Kaltura is an amazing time saver. What do you like best about 3Play Media?

We like that 3Play Media is reliable. We have not had any issues with the captions or audio descriptions. Their return time is always on time or even earlier than expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3Play Media?

One thing that we wish 3Play Media would do would be "dubbed" videos. We always get a few videos every semester in different languages and we know that 3Play Media can do translations and transcriptions but that is not helpful to those who are visually impaired, especially when it is a longer video and an audio description is also needed. What do you like best about 3Play Media?

They are usually very good at getting the captions to us quickly, even when we've requested "rush" transcription. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 3Play Media?

Sometimes, especially when requesting "rush" job captioning, the accuracy of the captions is not the best. This is probably due to their outsourcing system, since different contract workers will have different levels of quality and accuracy when transcribing. This can be a problem since we're paying for accurate captions, and having to go back and check them to fix errors should not be part of the process when we're paying for a service. What problems is 3Play Media solving and how is that benefiting you?

3Play has been absolutely essential for us to keep up with our video captioning workload, especially in the time of COVID when some courses needed captions created for EVERY 1-hour long (or longer) course, since they were being recorded through Zoom for students to review later. We have a number of hours of videos that we create every month and since finding 3Play, getting our content accessible has been a breeze. The quality and accuracy of the captioning have been fantastic and the ability to be able to take video from Vimeo and then automatically push back the transcriptions is great. Where do I start? The navigation is easy and intuitive. If I had to pick a favorite feature, though, it is the ability to edit captions. There are always times where something doesn't quite come across, or a word in another language is not recognized, so the edit feature allows me to ensure that my captions are perfect!
