Breadcrumb is a modern worksite safety and compliance tool built for the construction industry in the United States and operating globally across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Available on mobile and desktop, Breadcrumb houses vital jobsite safety documentation such as orientations, training and certifications, JHAs, and manpower counts, as well as a complete worker directory linked to every site with the ability to send messages directly to each worker on site. This centralized hub is accessible to everyone who needs it and integrates with Procore in real-time. By streamlining a typically disjointed experience and creating a direct path of communication to the worker, Breadcrumb helps jobsite teams manage projects more efficiently, without losing site of safety. Breadcrumb is connecting the field by providing general contractors the with the database, providing the foremen with the tools to manage their crews, and making it easy for workers to complete their orientations and profiles. We offer core tools like project and company orientations, project sign in and attendance, the collection of training, licenses and certifications, as well as evacuations and subcontractor communications and alerts. We also offer solutions for work permits, JHAs, PTPs and the like. The result is a complete worker directory with the contact information of every worker on every site, as well as a full compliance library and audit trail where everything is time-stamped and saved to the cloud. Furthermore, Breadcrumb offers a deep integration with Procore, including bidirectional directories that syncs projects, companies, users and permissions. The integration also means that all man hours recorded in Breadcrumb are pushed across to the Procore Daily Log, and all safety documents such as orientations, certifications and permits are replicated in Procore Documents.

**What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

The thing I love most about Breadcrumb is how user-friendly it is. People in the field don’t have time to learn a complicated platform, and Breadcrumb makes it easy to get up and running. The Breadcrumb team is also one of the best groups I’ve worked with outside of my organization. They’re always there to support us, and they do it with a smile. They’re also very good at listening to what our teams have to say and then making improvements based on that feedback. Another big positive is Breadcrumb’s integration with Procore. It helps our teams find documents more easily and faster within a system they’ve been using for a while now.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

The one complaint I have about Breadcrumb is their inability to do multiple form syncs in a single day. I understand why they don’t, but with the way our processes work, it would be much easier for our teams if that sync could happen earlier in the day.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A problem we ran into often was not knowing exactly who was on site at any given moment. This was dangerous for us, especially during emergencies, because there could be unknown people on site. Breadcrumb also gives teams the ability to end out mass texts which I know has been very helpful in several different instances for us.

**What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

Everything about the system is fantastic, from recording contractor's attendance, allowing us to customize and load our own project specific inductions, allowing contractors to load their specific task analysis and giving the whole team the opportunity to review and sign their documentation. We also have clear transparency on personal that enter the site if any part of their documentation is behind and gives us the control to hold them at the gate for further review, an all-round great system.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

Breadcrumb gives us everything that we need to manage our contractors, and it gives them the opportunity to manage their own documentation on their mobile devices which allows all of their team members to understand their companies' approved codes of practice.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralizing documentation, taking away the need to have multiple hard back folders for just one contractor, streamlining the log in and out process, a single control point for out evacuation process tracking contarctors that are currently signed into site.

**What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

I like the simplicity and integration Breadcrumb can have on a project, mainly around contractor management. It simplifies SWMS verification and review periods, and allows contractors to sign on to their SWMS to verify they've read and understood it. The inclusion of general toolbox forms, feedback, and inspections can be a really great benefit to the project. Additionally, the customer success manager made the transition simple and provided ample training to get me and the project team up to speed.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

The dashboard interface can feel a bit clunky at times compared to other platforms I’ve used in the past. The way the data is captured and presented isn’t as visually engaging, and overall it doesn’t feel very intuitive or simple to navigate. It would really help to capture and display this data through an easier interface with a stronger UI experience. I’d also like to see simpler tabs for accessing key information, along with more of the app’s functions being available in the desktop version.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Breadcrumb to capture inductions, verify SWMS, track contractor competency, and manage health, safety, and environmental compliance. Its simplicity and integration streamline contractor management, swim verification, and review processes, making it beneficial for projects.

Breadcrumb has been a real game changer for our organisation. It was easy to configure and feels very intuitive to use. My customer success manager is always easy to reach and answers any questions I’ve had. Even when my questions have been a bit left field and he hasn’t had an immediate answer, he follows up and gets back to me with the information I need. Workers across our sites also find it really simple. The integrations between Breadcrumb, Procore, and PowerBI have made my life that little bit easier.

There's nothing I really dislike about Breadcrumb.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Breadcrumb helps us keep our finger on the pulse across all our sites at any point in time. Within our company, we use Breadcrumb for worker inductions, capturing competencies, plant inductions, issuing permits for high-risk construction tasks, delivering toolbox talks, sharing general announcements, and much more. Having access on mobile, tablet, and laptop makes it simple to use wherever we are. 

It has also been extremely helpful during OFSC, ISO, and client-directed audits, as well as when conducting our own internal audits. The ability to produce records instantly is a huge benefit. Overall, it makes our business feel far more professional and efficient.

At Barnwood, introducing Breadcrumb has significantly strengthened how we manage site safety and compliance. The system gives us clear, real-time visibility of who is on site, supports consistent inductions and safety communications, and reduces our reliance on paper-based processes.

Breadcrumb has also helped us standardise HSQE controls across our projects, improve emergency preparedness, and keep accurate, auditable records. Because it’s easy to use on site, it encourages engagement and accountability, which supports our wider commitment to high safety standards and continuous improvement.

By embedding Breadcrumb alongside our other digital systems, we’ve improved efficiency while reinforcing our focus on protecting people and maintaining robust compliance across all sites. I also love the geofencing, and the fact that the system can automatically sign people in and out.

The customer support is also exceptional

I wish the geofencing feature wasn’t limited to a simple circle, and that we could adjust the shape to match the site’s boundaries so it would be even more accurate.

Breadcrumb is solving several practical challenges for Barnwood, including inconsistent site sign‑in processes, reliance on paper records, and limited real‑time visibility of who is on site. By digitising sign‑in and sign‑out, site inductions and safety communications, Breadcrumb gives Barnwood accurate, auditable site data that improves emergency response, strengthens CDM compliance and reduces administrative burden on site teams. This has directly benefited Barnwood by improving control and accountability across projects, supporting smoother audits and inspections, reducing the risk of missing or inaccurate records, and allowing managers and supervisors to focus more time on delivering work safely rather than managing paperwork.

**What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

I like that it’s digital because it removes a lot of paperwork. Signing books could easily get lost, and paper inspections were often damaged and required a lot of administration to keep everything organised. With breadcrumb, this has now been resolved.  I feel that using a digital system looks more professional to clients and is definitely the future of construction. The support  we have received from Dave and the use of the system has been fantastic. He has helped us implement new features faster and always responds very quickly! Usually the same day! For tech support I can't fault it and makes it extremely good value when you add in the customer service.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

I wish Breadcrumb had a documents section under each project. This would allow me to click on a project and see all the inspections, audits, and permits in one place. At the moment, I can still access them, but they are all bundled together. You can resolve this somewhat using filters, but having them organised under each individual project would be much easier to navigate.

The forms themselves are very good, but it would be better if you could edit questions directly within the form. Currently, if I make a mistake, I have to exit the form and go into the questions section to correct it. When you have many similar questions or a large number of them, this can be difficult to navigate.

Finally, automations within forms could be improved by allowing them to be set as a default rule. For example, if I have 20 questions in a form and want a function such as “if the answer is no, add more information,” I currently have to set this up for each question individually rather than applying one automation across the form.

These improvements would make the system even more efficient and user-friendly.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Breadcrumb for signing in, site inductions, toolbox talks, permits, and inspections. Signing in digitally reduces paper waste, and toolbox talks are now completed through the platform. Paper records were often lost or damaged, and we previously had to spend time collecting them. Using Breadcrumb saves a lot of time, keeps everything organised, and provides very good value for everything it offers.

**What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

Our business has been using 1Breadcrumb for a few years now, although I’ve personally been working with the platform for around the past year. I hadn’t used similar platforms before, but I found it very easy to navigate and get up to speed with.

At our company we’re all about making things as simple as possible for our teams so they can focus on delivering good work. That’s one of the things that stands out with 1Breadcrumb. The platform is straightforward and practical, and the mobile app in particular is very easy to use, which is important because our site teams are the ones using it the most. Most subcontractors pick it up quickly without much explanation.

The support behind the platform has also been excellent. Our CSM Jack in particular has been incredibly helpful. He goes out of his way to jump on calls, talk through issues and help us find workarounds when we’re trying to solve something quickly on site.

The platform also seems to be progressing in a really positive direction. It’s evolving into a specialised construction tool that stays focused on being practical and easy for people on site to use.

Overall, it’s been a solid platform for managing workforce compliance and site access, backed by a team that is responsive and passionate about the platform and safety.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

If there’s one area that could improve, it’s the aesthetics of the platform. Not just how it looks, but also how some of the data is presented and structured within the interface.

Functionally the system works well, but at times the layout and visual presentation of information could be clearer or more refined.

That said, we’ve already noticed some cosmetic improvements over the past few months, which suggests the platform is evolving in this area. It looks like these updates may be the beginning of broader refinements to the user interface.

One of the key problems it solves for us is oversight. As a safety team it gives us clear visibility of who is on site, whether inductions have been completed and whether the right documentation has been submitted. That level of visibility is difficult to achieve when you’re relying on paper systems or multiple spreadsheets.

It also helps standardise how inductions and worker sign-ins are managed across sites, which removes a lot of the manual administration that used to sit with the site teams.

What I like best about Breadcrumb is how easy it is to use both on site and in the office. The system is intuitive, which makes it simple for our teams to record inspections, observations and other health and safety information quickly without creating unnecessary administrative burden. This is particularly helpful on busy construction sites where efficiency is important. In addition, the customer service has been excellent whenever we have had queries or required support. The support team are responsive, knowledgeable and always willing to assist, which gives us confidence that any issues or questions can be resolved quickly. Overall, the combination of ease of use and reliable support makes Breadcrumb a very effective health and safety management tool for our business.

Breadcrumb helps us manage and centralise our health and safety processes, which previously involved multiple systems, paperwork, and manual tracking. One of the key benefits is the ease of reviewing documents and safety records, as everything is stored in one place and can be accessed quickly by both site and office teams. This makes it much easier to monitor compliance and ensure that required documentation is up to date.

The platform also improves reporting and visibility of health and safety activity, allowing us to quickly generate reports on inspections, observations, and other safety data without having to manually compile information. This saves time and helps management maintain better oversight of site performance.

In addition, Breadcrumb supports on-site attendance and activity monitoring, giving us clearer visibility of who is present on site and helping ensure that site teams are properly accounted for. Overall, the system reduces administrative workload, improves organisation of health and safety information, and allows our teams to manage safety processes more efficiently both on site and in the office.

I have been utilizing the Breadcrumb HSE Platform for over 3 years now and it is incredibly user friendly from both an administrative and site-level. Breadcrumb strives for continuous improvements as they always take onboard client feedback to fine tune and address all matters raised and identified.

I would like to also take this opportunity to personally give a shout out and positive recognition to our assigned Customer Success Manager, Team Lead - Jack Highnam. Jack has been incredibly proactive and attentive to all of my Breadcrumb queries and requests. One of the most helpful aspects of Breadcrumb has been how streamlined and user-friendly the platform is for our field teams. The system has helped simplify and organize several safety and documentation processes that were previously more time-consuming to manage manually. Features such as orientations, safety forms, permit tracking, and documentation storage have made it easier for teams in the field to complete tasks efficiently while maintaining visibility and consistency across projects.

Still in the implementation phase, so teams are continuing to adapt to the new workflows and features as the platform expands across projects, but overall the transition and support process has been very positive.

I appreciate Breadcrumb for allowing electronic collection of compliance records and documents, and the electronic signing and acceptance of safety records, which saves me from relying on hard copies that might get lost. I enjoy the customer service experience, which has been thorough, with a knowledgeable Customer Success Manager ready to assist since day one. I like the flexibility provided by both the web portal and phone app, which help site hosts manage the project sites efficiently. The main value I see is having all records kept electronically, making it easy to search and access documents from anywhere in the world, ensuring information is not lost. Setting up Breadcrumb was quite easy as well, since it was usable from day one and could be tailored to our company's needs.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

There are times where there have been errors with some of the functionality and instances of bugs within the User Interface experience. However, in the majority of cases, the development team has been quick to action the fixes or at least communicate why a fix has taken longer than anticipated.

I love how Breadcrumb has made orientations and JSAs so much easier and faster for everyone, especially with the off-site orientation feature. It’s been a huge time saver—now our safety managers spend about half the time they used to on paperwork. The real-time visibility is great too; I can check who’s on site from anywhere, and it’s made audits and compliance so much simpler. The foreman workflow has been a game-changer for our teams, especially for those with a lot of people to check in. Everything is centralized and consistent, which has made our processes so much smoother across all job sites.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

Honestly, I haven’t heard anything bad from our teams. Of course, it’s a software, so bugs happen from time to time, but besides those minor issues, it’s been great. Some of our team still expect it to do everything automatically, but that’s more about managing expectations and training than a problem with Breadcrumb itself.

How simple and intuitive it is to use, both from an admin perspective and for site teams. It makes managing a site straightforward while still offering a wide range of tools to support safety, compliance, and daily operations.

The flexibility is a standout, particularly the ability to fully customise forms and questions to suit how you actually work, rather than being forced into rigid templates. The same applies to SWMS, where you can use your own proven templates instead of trying to retrofit your processes into a system that doesn’t align.

It’s also very easy for workers to use on the ground. There’s no friction with complicated company logins or licensing barriers, which makes onboarding quick and improves overall adoption across teams.

From a business perspective, the pricing is reasonable for the value it provides, and their customer and technical support has been excellent; responsive, helpful, and easy to deal with.

Overall, it consolidates site management into one clean, efficient system without overcomplicating things.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

Breadcrumb feels more tailored toward principal contractors, which can require some adjustment when implementing it as a subcontractor. That said, we were able to customise it to suit our needs.

From a usability perspective, it would be great to see more flexibility in form branding and layout, currently this is more limited and mostly an aesthetic constraint rather than a functional one.

There’s also some opportunity to improve off-site usability and task management features, such as assigning forms or actions to others. While we’ve been able to create workarounds (e.g. using frequent user settings), having these capabilities built in would streamline workflows further.

Overall, these are relatively minor points, and I have confidence they’ll continue to be addressed as the platform evolves.

Breadcrumb is solving the challenge of managing site safety, compliance, and communication in a simple, centralised system.

It streamlines site attendance tracking and improves consultation through pre-starts, toolbox talks, announcements, and briefings, ensuring workers are informed and engaged in real time.

It also standardises and simplifies form completion across all levels of the business, including workers, supervisors, and HSE personnel. This covers audits, inspections, observations, incident notifications, and hazard reporting, making it easier to capture consistent, high-quality data.

In addition, it improves document control and record management, particularly for SWMS, JHAs, plant, SDS, and general site information, ensuring everything is accessible, up to date, and properly recorded.

Overall, it reduces admin, improves visibility across sites, and strengthens compliance and communication on the ground.

The software is intuitive making it easy to pick up & use whilst still providing a depth which allows it to truly adapt to business safety requirements.

Outside of the software itself getting consistent updates / improvements the BreadCrumb team are extremely approachable & friendly. They will always ensure you feel heard as a customer alongside all your problems being addressed.

They are currently feeling slightly dated in areas but are presently working on very big & exciting updates to improve the software across the board to offer even more features / benefits

Currently we have been using BreadCrumb for all site safety management in regards to checking all sub-contractors we work with are following best practices for site safety & all their workers have up to date safety documentation.

Outside of this we also upload & maintain all our company site safety documentation for ease of access to ensure all staff are working off the most recent safety documents.

Breadcrumb is very useful for managing the staff induction process and keeping health and safety documents well organised. New staff can easily complete their induction online and review the H&S documents, required policies and procedures in one place. This makes onboarding smoother and ensures everyone has access to the same information from the start.

I like how Breadcrumb makes it easy to control our health and safety paperwork. I appreciate that all our approved documents are stored into Procore, making it simple to check if a subcontractor is following the protocols on-site. The visibility it provides is very helpful. The setup was also relatively easy, and once we learned how the system works, it's very simple to operate.

Yeah. The Hot Work system is not the greatest. And we'd also like to get a matrix put into the whole work system if possible when the future as this is the way our insurance companies in New Zealand are going.

I like using Breadcrumb for streamlining worker safety management and making safety information more easily available to workers on their phones. Its user-friendly interface is a big plus, and I find it flexible enough for me to make necessary changes. The ongoing support from the Breadcrumb team is fantastic; they respond promptly and handle technical or large-scale changes quickly. They feel like part of our team, not just a software provider. I also appreciate Breadcrumb's integrations with platforms like Procore, which minimize re-work and overlap in software subscriptions. It effectively directs workers to the relevant platform based on their needs, which I find very efficient.

Their reports, reporting tools, and dashboards could be improved, and the functionality of the Host portal versus the app. I need the web portal to be able to do everything the app can do (e.g., draft briefing), which is much easier on a computer than a phone with that amount of content, etc.

I like how Breadcrumb is very customizable, allowing for changes to be made on the fly. It has really sped up reviewing H&S information and inspections because all my info is in one place. The quick access to H&S info means I spend less time going through paperwork and more time focusing on the build of the project. The customer service is quick, honest, and pragmatic, especially through Dave Robinson. I appreciate the regular updates that keep the system current and responsive.

Further customization could be useful, such as more specific permits. It would be good if geo-fencing was a prominent feature. Site setup can be clunky, however, the soon-to-release NextGen update should solve some of these issues.

I really appreciate the ease of use of Breadcrumb. It consolidates all contractor files into one consistent, audited platform, rather than having to chase documents through email or multiple systems. This means everything is stored, tracked, and time-stamped, making the process of reviewing documentation prior to contractor accessing the site much simpler.

The user interface is not the friendliest, and the announcement section could do with some user experience improvements. I wish I could search announcements instead of scrolling through the list. Also, it would be better if the editor for questions was integrated into the area where the respective item or induction is being created rather than on a completely separate screen.

We have worked with Breadcrumb to develop functionality for both our construction sites, but also our office locations. Its versatility is great and so simple to use. It also integrates with our other construction software.

There isn't anything that I don't really like. Once things have been setup (which the team at Breadcrumb were very helpful to do this) it doesn't require much in the way of effort to manage it.

We have very contrasting environments for which Breadcrumb is very handy for. For our construction sites we can easily add a new location when we start a new job and with the QR code functionality our contractors can easily check-in. The greatest up side to using Breadcrumb would definitely be the prompt and effective support. We've worked with Breadcrumb for a number of years now and to date they have always been really helpful whenever we've reached out. Its extremely useful to have small issues resolved immediately to ensure it doesn't affect work flow or productivity. 

Company culture shows they all have the same goal/values and strive to improve their system while foresting relationships with users. 

Finally the way the accept and implement feedback. As we use this software on a daily basis we have constantly give feedback on ways to improve usability and it all gets taken on board and implemented in some capacity.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

There hasn't been any areas of the system or customer support that i haven't liked. They keep open lines of communication around their glitches and areas of improvement, which is all that can be asked for.

Multiple. Imke has been helpful in so many ways. From small glitches that have been resolved with work arounds, to user error issues that she has helped coach us around. **What do you like best about Breadcrumb?**

I have been using Breadcrumb for over a year now and I have found it to be a really good system. The app itself is very user friendly and easy to get used to. It has been great for our company’s inductions, for tracking attendance across our different projects as well as keeping on top of certifications. It gives us a clear overall picture of health and safety across our sites, which makes things much easier to manage.

The Customer Success Manager, Dave Robinson, has been brilliant to deal with as well. He always comes back very quickly, has great knowledge of the system, and has been really helpful whenever my colleagues or I have had questions or suggestions. He has also been open to feedback, whether positive or constructive, and helped us set things up in a way that works best for us. He also checks in with us to make sure everything is still running smoothly.

One of the best things for us has been moving more towards a paperless system. Dave helped me in particular set up digital inspections for things like plant, which has worked really well. It means anyone on site can complete the forms quickly and everyone who needs access can see them straight away, rather than dealing with paperwork.

The announcements feature has also been great, as it allows us to send out notices or guidance to everyone or to specific groups without physically having to go onto site. Having our company inductions completed through Breadcrumb has also saved a lot of time. We can send the QR code in advance so operatives can complete it before arriving on site, which avoids wasted time during the induction process.

It has also helped me keep track of new sites starting up. In construction there can be a quick turnover with new projects coming in regularly, and Breadcrumb highlights new sites clearly, which makes it easy for me to see where I need to send the QR code and set up the location.

From speaking to my colleagues, the RAMS feature has also worked really well. RAMS can be assigned to specific projects and operatives are required to electronically sign them, which ensures they have reviewed them properly. It is also very easy to assign the correct RAMS to the right subcontractors.

**What do you dislike about Breadcrumb?**

One minor improvement would be having admin access to operatives’ wallets so we could remove expired certificates and upload the current in date ones ourselves, as it can sometimes be difficult to get operatives to update these.

**What problems is Breadcrumb solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Breadcrumb helps us manage site attendance, certifications, inductions and health & safety documentation across multiple projects in one place. It has allowed us to move away from paperwork and keep everything digital and easy to track. This saves time, improves visibility across our sites and makes managing compliance much easier.

Breadcrumb has been an excellent tool on our site as it has shortened the time it takes to give new subcontractors an initial orientation, it allows for orientations to be given in any language, it improves communication by utilizing mass notifications via the site alert tool, and it allows us to gain specific information from all individuals to complete other project requirements.

In certain more remote or rural areas where mobile device service is spotty, some of our subcontractors haven't been able to get the browser version loaded to complete their check-in.
