**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

I like using AutoCAD, especially for its co-ordination capabilities with all the consultants, because it's so widely used all over the world. The X-ref feature is really helpful as it allows me to change one drawing and have it update everywhere. I also think Dynamic Blocks are super easy to use; once you make one, you can use it easily for the project. Plus, printing quality drawings in any scale is a feature I appreciate. Overall, AutoCAD has saved me a lot of time over the 10 years I've been using it. But it expensive if you are an individual want to buy it. Almost the support from the customer service is always not to effective. But overall still best for architectural drawings. I never use any AI feature so I dont know.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

Replacing the blocks like in Revit. I would love if I could simply replace blocks. Like in Revit you can choose wall type by the wall category drop down, but in CAD you don’t have that option.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD saves me a lot of time. The X-ref feature updates changes across drawings, Dynamic Blocks simplify reuse, and I can easily print quality drawings in any scale.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

Honestly, for me it comes down to muscle memory. Once you’ve really mastered the command line, you stop “using software” and just start “thinking onto the screen.” The speed you can reach with keyboard aliases is something I still haven’t been able to replicate in newer, more click-heavy BIM tools. And I never have to worry about whether a consultant can open my files either; it’s basically the industry’s universal language, which saves me a massive amount of coordination headache.

It doesn’t create automatic sections, BOQ, or other things.

What I like best about AutoCAD is its precision and flexibility. It allows you to create highly accurate 2D and 3D designs, which is critical for engineering, architecture, and construction work. **What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

I find AutoCAD to be a solid piece of software. It’s essential for my architectural work, since we use it for every drawing—whether it’s a detailed door layout or drafting an entire neighborhood that spans kilometers. I like that it can handle a huge number of lines without crashing, and since 2021 it hasn’t crashed on me. I also appreciate how much easier the initial setup has become; these days, a simple login is enough to get started. the overall ui will be complex at first. it will take around three weeks to learn it . once you learn you can do anything. so the time spend is learning is worth and learn is not very complex. but you have learn a bunch of easy things, it can be easily combined with sketchup or photoshop. that will give me output quality. i have also used it with corel draw . as architect i will say cad does not want ai tools in it . it is a drawing tool

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

I notice it does not have the feature to automatically convert multi-unit measurements. Also, the only concern I have is the price.

AutoCAD is the core of architecture for my work. We use it for every drawing, from detailed door designs to drafting entire neighborhoods. It's solid software that handles lots of lines without crashing, though it lacks a feature to auto convert multi-unit.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

The keyboard commands. The proper way to work in AutoCAD is with one hand on the mouse and the other hovering over the keyboard to enter one and two letter commands. Very efficient if you know what you're doing.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

The bloatware aspect of it. AutoDesk never takes anything out of AutoCAD, just adds new stuff on top of existing. It definitely slows down load time.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the default 2D drafting program, the DWG format is largely convertible for import into other programs. As a more limited in scope and capability program than BIM programs likes like Revit,  the basic elements of the program can be taught with relative ease. In one case, I taught the secretary at a local contractor's office to do AutoCAD for the backyard decks that were his specialty.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

I like how AutoCAD is accurate, allowing me to place chambers and pipes exactly where they need to be using coordinates. The coordination feature is crucial as it lets me overlay other disciplines' drawings for clash detection. I can update drawings quickly and easily after any changes. I appreciate the clarity of the drawings; they remain clean, readable, and consistent for both designers and site engineers. The initial setup is very simple and easy, with guidance available if needed.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD is excellent at drafting but it's limited for drainage design. It won't warn you if the pipe gradient is unrealistic or the cover depth is too shallow. It's not like Microdrainage or OpenRoads Designer; I cannot calculate flow, pipe sizes, or capacity. It can display 3D, but it's not a true 3D drainage design tool.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AutoCAD to create precise drainage layouts, quickly draft sketches, and prepare geometry for integration with Microdrainage. It keeps drawings layered and clear for site teams, handles design updates easily, and allows for clash detection by overlaying other disciplines' drawings.

I think AutoCAD is pretty easy to start using, even for someone who is not very familiar with design tools. It doesn't require any sort of external hardware other than a mouse and a keyboard. Plus, it's compatible across multiple Windows platforms, which means it's very rare that there's an AutoCAD file that I need to use but can't. The fact that the viewer is free is also great.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

The file is too large, and it becomes difficult to get into presentations. Maybe they could create file types that are ideal for PowerPoint presentations because getting into the CAD viewer every time we have a leadership presentation can be a hassle.

AutoCAD is very reliable when it comes to creating accurate drawings. I find the software really flexible because it support both 2D and 3D drawings. So we can use it for simple plans as well as more detailed models without needing different software. Another useful feature is the layer system. It helps to keep different parts of a drawing neat and organised which makes complex designs easier to understand.

One thing I felt difficult about AutoCAD is that it is not beginner friendly. The interface and tools can feel a bit overwhelming for beginners, and it takes time to understand how everything works.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

As a tool that we have used for quite some time both for developing projects for third parties and for executing our own developments, it undoubtedly continues to provide us with the necessary value for both our Engineering department and the other technical departments within the organization.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

When it comes to other CAD/BIM tools, there are particularities that apply to our case (development of industrial electrical/electronic equipment and systems). In certain cases, features such as automation for generating certain types of reports (cabling, bill of materials, among others) are more cumbersome in AutoCAD than in other platforms that are direct competitors.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely the greatest added value/problem that AutoCAD solves for us is compatibility with much of the documentation sent to us from various clients, who rarely update their CAD/BIM platforms (if ever), and we receive this documentation in versions that are quite outdated. However, with compatibility management, we can still use this initial source of information and make the necessary updates according to client requirements.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD is the best, I was introduced to it in my university, and I have been using  it for almost 18 years. It is my favorite drafting tool, because it is precise and its files are light and compatible with most architectural softwares. I like how I can control the quality of the documentation and printing.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

I don't think it can be defined as a dislike, but I guess sometimes this software can be easily misused. It's hard to identify 3D lines in 2D spaces. Per example some users use topographic info to draw a site plan, and this can generate errors. It would be amazing if 3D elements had a flag to identify them quickly.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I enjoy drafting elevations of interior design projects, and I think AutoCAD has the best drafting quality in the market. No other tool can compare to the quality you can achieve with this software!

Honestly if I have to point out a negative it would definitely be how resource heavy the software can get especially when we are working on really large files with a ton of layers it happens quite a bit where my friend Reshma will try to open a massive complex drawing on her laptop and the whole system just freezes up or starts lagging which is super frustrating when we are on a tight deadline. Also the licensing cost is getting pretty steep for us lately I remember discussing this with Sricharan just the other day and we both felt that the subscription model is becoming a bit of a financial burden compared to the old perpetual licenses we used to have so yeah better performance optimization for average computers and maybe more flexible pricing would make a huge difference for our team

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

I have used AutoCAD's Fusion 360 during my coursework, and it was essential for creating drawings and structures for 3D printing. AutoCAD helped me solve visualization problems, effectively translating ideas from my mind into precise, fabrication-ready designs. I really appreciate the precision and control it offers while designing, which is crucial for accuracy in 3D printing. Additionally, the software helps me organize layers efficiently, making the designing process much easier. It also supported me in various assignments, allowing for easy editing without needing to change entire designs. The initial setup was quite easy, making it accessible from the start.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

When trying to create drawings with multiple parts, it becomes complex to handle and the software is slow. Additionally, when I used to handle complex drawings, the software used to misbehave, whereas my friends using SolidWorks were able to do it.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD helps me solve visualization problems by translating ideas into precise, fabrication-ready designs and allows me to edit without changing the whole design. It also organizes layers well.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

I like AutoCAD's infinite space where I can draw anything, which is great for creating detailed design and plan layouts of buildings. It makes it easy to explain detailed plans since I am a civil engineer. I also appreciate the many features and shortcuts that make it easy to draw any plan, like building foundations, beams, columns, and elevations. I've been using this software for more than two years, and I can't think of my life without it. It's the only source of income for me, which shows how reliant and integrated it is in my work. The initial setup of AutoCAD was easy for me, indicating its user-friendly nature. Till now, I'd give AutoCAD a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

I find AutoCAD's 3D visualization a little bit complex and difficult to use. It's also a bit time-consuming and hard for me to draw any complex type of structure.

I find AutoCAD makes it easy to draw any plan, like building foundations and elevations, with infinite space and many features. It's crucial for creating detailed designs and explaining plans in my civil engineering work.

**What do you like best about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD is an excellent tool for designing machines and is especially helpful for engineering students. I appreciate AutoCAD mainly for its precision and professional standards. It enables me to create highly accurate drawings with exact dimensions, which deepens my understanding of how real-world designs are developed. I also value the fact that AutoCAD is widely used in the industry, making the time I spend learning it feel like a worthwhile investment for my future career. Additionally, features like layers, blocks, and shortcuts make drafting much faster once I become familiar with them.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

One aspect I find challenging about AutoCAD is its steep learning curve, especially for beginners. In the beginning, trying to remember all the commands and shortcuts can be quite confusing. The software also tends to use a lot of system resources, which means it can lag on computers with lower specifications. On top of that, even minor errors, such as selecting the wrong units or layers, can impact the whole drawing. As an intern, this can be particularly frustrating.

**What problems is AutoCAD solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCAD addresses the challenges of manual drafting, such as errors and inefficiency, by offering a precise, digital, and easily editable drafting environment. It makes modifying and reusing designs much simpler, and its documentation capabilities surpass those of traditional hand drawings. As an intern, I find these features especially valuable because they help me learn industry-standard drafting techniques, enhance my technical accuracy, and provide practical experience with tools commonly used in professional projects.

When I import layers from Google Earth, I need to use AutoCAD Civil; I can't just use AutoCAD. It would be nice to have AutoCAD also have that feature. Maybe add a feature for 'import' and 'export' to AutoCAD.

The command-based workflow, layers, and powerful tools make organizing and modifying complex designs smooth. It's great for both 2D drafting and 3D modeling. I'm particularly fond of its layer management, which helps organize drawings by separating different components and keeps projects clean and manageable. Object snaps ensure accurate endpoints, midpoints, and intersections, which eliminates guesswork and prevents errors. The dimensioning tools that automatically generate precise measurements and keep associativity help save time and prevent mistakes. I also appreciate the ability to customize commands, use shortcuts, and automate tasks with scripts, which boosts productivity and makes my workflow very efficient. The transition from other drafting tools to AutoCAD was driven by its reliability, precision, and the industry-standard features it provides.

**What do you dislike about AutoCAD?**

AutoCAD can be improved in a few areas: it has a steep learning curve for beginners, can feel slow when working with large files, and its subscription cost is quite high. Some 3D features also feel less intuitive compared to modern 3D modeling software. AutoCAD’s 3D tools feel less intuitive because navigation, solid editing, and surface modeling require many separate commands and don’t flow as smoothly as modern parametric systems. Tools like PressPull, UCS management, and Boolean operations can feel cumbersome.

AutoCAD solves problems like creating precise technical drawings, reducing drafting errors, saving time on design revisions, and improving communication through clear, standardized plans.
