"Clear understanding of engineering capacity and OKRs, but requires discipline to avoid notification."
4.5/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

As a software engineer, I get interrupted a lot while coding, reviewing PRs, and joining agile ceremonies. 15Five has made life easier by improving async comms with my engineering manager, which is a godsend for our distributed dev teams.

The structured check-ins help reveal technical roadblocks or deployment issues that generally don’t come up (or don’t get much focus) in our quick daily stand-ups. I also appreciate the 1-on-1 templates. Before we started using this, our manager meetings were largely unstructured discussions about the sprint. Now, we use 15Five to set personal development and career growth alignment goals, which helps separate those conversations from the “what did you build this week” updates.

The goals and OKR features are helpful in that they integrate the very high level product delivery OKRs with personal dev milestones. Plus, the pulse surveys and employee engagement features help management gain real insight into team dev workload, and help them identify burnout earlier, which is especially important during heavy release periods. Having these weekly reflections helps make performance tracking over time more objective and provides a record. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

To be honest, the weekly check-ins can seem iterative. If you get stuck into an intricate back-end epic that stretches several weeks, most of your update check-ins end up saying “working on the same thing.” That certainly makes check-ins feel like busy work.

There’s also the danger of notification fatigue. With several different platforms like Jira, Slack, GitHub, and PagerDuty, it can feel like the 15Five email notifications are adding even more noise. Similarly, for tighter nimble agile teams, the application can feel almost overbearing. Sections of the application and its advanced features feel more like an HR product and less like something an engineering team would like and want. There’s definitely a stereotypical “sheen” of customization that would be a part of it, but it can certainly become a relatively costly and fully on-boarded administration activity rather than just a closer-role development partner. You can make check-ins, comment moderation, notifications and more into something that best fits your development workflow and less into an economic, estimate-roll automation system. Response from Caitlin Ludke of 15Five

Hi Pardeep, thanks for taking the time to review 15Five! We're glad to hear that the platform is helping reduce some of the interruptions that come with distributed development work, especially through more effective async communication and structured check-ins. It’s great to know the 1:1 templates and goal alignment are creating clearer space for both delivery conversations and career growth. That separation is something we care a lot about, so it’s encouraging to see it resonating with your team.

We also appreciate you calling out the challenges you've experienced. The note about check-ins feeling repetitive during longer projects is fair, and we're always looking for ways to improve the feature so it works for all types of situations. We'll be sure to share this feedback with our product team.

We also understand that folks like to customize their notifications to better fit their daily workflow. I'm including a Help Center article that outlines how you can manage your own notifications in 15Five. We also have specific admin-wide notification setting instructions if that's something your team is interested in. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@15five.com.

"Efficient Performance Reviews with Outstanding Support"
5/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

I find the performance reviews in 15Five incredibly easy to set up and execute, with parameters that I can easily edit at any time, which is great for overworked management. The customer service is my favorite part as I have never had a bad experience, and they regularly help me with work-arounds when needed features are unavailable. The AI in the knowledge base does a great job directing me, and I've been able to get my questions answered using the AI chat on several occasions. I love that it automatically starts a ticket for me if the AI can’t help right away. These features make 15Five an easy way for leadership to stay connected to employees and ensure that goals and priorities are aligned across the company, requiring very little effort from HR. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

It would be really nice if the engagement surveys were more customizable. We don't use them because we can't customize them to fit our format. It would also be cool if there were a matrix aspect for Career Pathing. Or if employees could have a checklist of items that they could complete over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Caitlin Ludke of 15Five

Hi Annie, thank you for such a thoughtful review of 15Five! It’s great to hear how easy the performance review process has been for you and your team, especially with the flexibility to make adjustments as needed. We're also glad our support team and AI tools have been helpful along the way. It’s especially meaningful to hear that these pieces are helping leadership stay connected and aligned without adding extra lift for HR!

We really appreciate your feedback around engagement survey customization and career pathing. We know how important customization is and we'll be sure to share this with our product team as we continue to evolve the platform.

Thanks again for sharing your perspective and for being a part of our community!

"Streamlined Performance Management with Room for Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

I like to link individual goals directly to marketing OKRs, making it easy for everyone to understand how their work impacts business results. Plus, the visibility it gives me without micromanaging is incredible. The initial setup was a simple and well-structured process, and it was well received. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

I find the system needs to be more intuitive when linking metrics, as those generated directly from metrics and goal progress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Frustrating Experience with Buggy UI and Lack of Reporting"
0/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

Nothing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

There is no way to do reporting. The UI has many bugs. I've reported them, and all they want me to do is test even more. The tool encourages you to submit before the week is over, then makes it difficult to set up the next week. The UI main list says "Submit Check-n..." which is misleading it is about to Edit and you may chose to submit or not. Users cannot report on key results entered for the same query for annual summary - they need to open each one individually - which is time consuming. Priorities are ticked or not - not progressed. "Transparent Communication and Clear Objectives Keep Teams Aligned"
4/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

This tool excels at fostering transparent communication between team members and their leads. By offering a structured framework for setting clear objectives and defining expectations, it helps remove the ambiguity that often plagues project workflows and keeps everyone aligned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

I think there’s a significant opportunity to improve how the platform supports matrix organizations. In particular, the functionality around dotted-line reporting still feels somewhat underdeveloped and could be strengthened to better reflect those reporting relationships. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Caitlin Ludke of 15Five

Hi Donnie, thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for sharing your experience with 15Five. We’re happy to hear the platform has helped create clearer communication and alignment across your team. Providing structure around goals, expectations, and ongoing conversations is such an important part of helping teams work more effectively together, so it’s great to know that’s been valuable for your organization.

We also appreciate your perspective on supporting matrix organizations and dotted-line reporting structures. As teams continue to evolve, flexibility in how organizations collaborate and manage relationships becomes increasingly important. We’ll be sure to share this feedback with our product team as we continue enhancing the platform to better support more complex team dynamics and reporting needs over time.

Thanks again for taking the time to review us!

"Team Engagement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about 15Five?

’ve had a very positive experience using 15Five so far. It has become an essential tool for improving communication, accountability, and overall team engagement. The platform makes it easy to set clear goals, track progress, and maintain regular check-ins, which has significantly enhanced transparency across the team.

One of the standout features is how it encourages meaningful conversations between managers and team members. The weekly check-ins and feedback tools help surface challenges early and ensure that everyone stays aligned and supported. It also creates a structured yet flexible way to recognize achievements and provide constructive feedback.

From a management perspective, 15Five has helped streamline performance tracking and made it easier to focus on both results and employee development. The interface is user-friendly, and the reporting features provide valuable insights that support better decision-making.

Overall, 15Five has contributed to building a more engaged, accountable, and high-performing team environment. I would highly recommend it to any organization looking to strengthen their people management and performance processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

While 15Five offers valuable tools for performance management, there are a few areas that could be improved. At times, the platform can feel a bit overwhelming to navigate, especially with multiple features spread across different sections. Some workflows aren’t as intuitive as they could be, which can slow down efficiency.

Additionally, the frequency of notifications and emails can be excessive, making it easy to feel overloaded or distracted. There are also limitations in customization, particularly when trying to tailor questions, reports, or processes to specific team needs.

Another challenge is that some features—like surveys or check-ins—can become repetitive over time, which may reduce engagement. Lastly, for smaller teams, the platform can feel more complex than necessary and may not always provide proportional value for the cost Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Caitlin Ludke of 15Five

What do you like best about 15Five?

The product is really helpful and scalable, especially when it comes to integrations. The design and layout are also very useful for the team. On top of that, it supports smaller review cycles, and the AI intelligence features feel very smooth to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about 15Five?

The main downside of the product is its cost compared to alternatives in the market. Still, if we want good performance, we have to be willing to bear that cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
