The site is very commercially focussed, so the system does throw a few things at you in the checkout for upsell (like email, website builder, etc.). It can make it frustrating and sometimes confusing what is in the basket, but once you've done it once, it is relatively quick to fly through the checkout. The portal itself looks a little dated, but it does provide a good level of management. When using the support, I have found the response times can be a lot slower than other providers. Given the nature of the support type (i.e., domains) where you tend to need to react if you have a domain issue, it would be good to see the support time increased here. I have use 123-reg for a few years andthe only thing i dislike about them would be the Auto-renew gets selected without your realising, and also that prices do increase for existing customers, and 123-reg dont have offers or discounts running for loyal customers which i think they need to look into. They seemed to have changed the system recently so that you get a domain expiry notification for domains you don't actually own, for example if you own 'site.com' they will send you an expiry notification for the domain 'site.co' and it can be very confusing and i can imagine people may have been caught out by this and gone on to renew domains they did not want. It was really to search for domains on the site and they even gave suggestions for alternatives if the exact domain you wanted was not available. I was able to quickly and easily register domains and set up associated services. Customer service is amazing. Feels quite personal. Nothing really. Their marketing and branding isn't that great, (not that it really matters for a web hosting company), but for this reason I was never drawn to them.
