The initial domain registration offers for UK domains from 123 Ref provide superb value. You can register a UK domain for as little as 79p but do keep in mind you will have to pay full price for 2nd year. I think the pricing re: domain transfers could be more clearly laid out. While most registars will offer free transfers, it's unclear what the actual renewal price will be when you are going through the process of transferring a domain to 123. Ease of use. Purchasing a domain is a relatively simple process and once purchased, there is a range of tools to help manage the domain from the dashboard. There is a wealth of support documentation available too, which means you can generally find the answer to most questions - particularly concerning DNS records and entry formats/types. It's easy to transfer a domain into the account - particularly from another 123-reg account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about 123-reg Domain Registration? The site is very commercially focussed, so the system does throw a few things at you in the checkout for upsell (like email, website builder, etc.). It can make it frustrating and sometimes confusing what is in the basket, but once you've done it once, it is relatively quick to fly through the checkout. The portal itself looks a little dated, but it does provide a good level of management. When using the support, I have found the response times can be a lot slower than other providers. Given the nature of the support type (i.e., domains) where you tend to need to react if you have a domain issue, it would be good to see the support time increased here. The system helps you manage multiple domain names, and there is a check button to manage automatic domain renewals in the future. Until recently, it had a backorder function. It's a shame that has gone, but on the whole, the core features are good. Domain renewal can be automatic and smooth, so it saves a lot of admin time that manual renewals might otherwise take up. For the first time you use the system, the layout for canceling a domain seems purposefully frustrating. I guess the aim is to keep you as long as possible commercially. Their checkout process is very simple and the options are easy to manage. I have use 123-reg for a few years andthe only thing i dislike about them would be the Auto-renew gets selected without your realising, and also that prices do increase for existing customers, and 123-reg dont have offers or discounts running for loyal customers which i think they need to look into. They seemed to have changed the system recently so that you get a domain expiry notification for domains you don't actually own, for example if you own 'site.com' they will send you an expiry notification for the domain 'site.co' and it can be very confusing and i can imagine people may have been caught out by this and gone on to renew domains they did not want. It was really to search for domains on the site and they even gave suggestions for alternatives if the exact domain you wanted was not available. I was able to quickly and easily register domains and set up associated services. Customer service is amazing. Feels quite personal. Their marketing and branding isn't that great, (not that it really matters for a web hosting company), but for this reason I was never drawn to them.
