# How does OneSite Patch handle patch approval workflows without creating bottlenecks?

Several mechanisms prevent approval bottlenecks:
(1) Minimum Approvals – you define the number of approvals from the assigned group that are required to proceed rather than requiring unianimous approvals from all assigned admins;
(2) Reminder Intervals – configurable reminders are sent to approvers who have not responded;
(3) Approval Timeouts – approvals can auto-approve after a timeout period if the "Automatically Approve Timed Out Patches" toggle is enabled;
(4) Approval Chains – layered approval structures (Product Owner, Patch Management, Security, Test Lab, Change Management) allow parallel or sequential routing suited to the organization;
(5) Backup Approvers – backup roles can be designated in Approval Chain layers to perform approvals after a configured timeout if primary approvers do not respond;
(6) Patch Auto Remediation – for simpler deployments, can deploy without approval at all.
