# Will Kisi work with the electronic door locks I already have?

We already have electronic door locks installed throughout our building, and replacing them would add significant cost to any migration. As we evaluate Kisi, we're trying to understand whether we can keep our existing locks or if new hardware is required.

In many cases, yes. Kisi works with most electronic locks and is designed to support flexible migration paths that allow organizations to modernize access control without replacing their entire infrastructure.
If you already have electronic locks in place, you may only need to add a Kisi Controller Pro to connect those locks to Kisi’s cloud-based access control platform. This lets you manage access remotely through Kisi while keeping your existing lock hardware.
If you are migrating from a legacy access control system, the minimum upgrade is typically a Kisi Controller Pro 2 with a Wiegand board. That setup lets Kisi work with existing readers, controllers, wiring, and credentials, while giving you cloud-based management and mobile unlocking through the Kisi app.
Depending on your setup, you can keep some or all of your existing hardware and move to Kisi at your own pace.
