# Why does it take forever to open the software. And why is Indesign so slow?

I'm using i7 10th gen and 16GB, and it still take me over 30 seconds to open up Indesign software? How can I make it faster ? Do I need to get a graphic card ? Will graphic card helps ??

Increasing your system's RAM, or using a graphic card with a good amount of RAM might help; remembering to save and close all documents before switching off the program is useful too.
The "closing documents" solution might also help if the slowness is due to a lot of fonts - all the fonts currently in use must be loaded, and this slows the launch a lot.

Maybe look at the fonts that you have open. InDesign might be struggling with a bad font or maybe if you have a large amount of fonts open, it could cause the sluggish startup.
