# Why cant I upload files in the background?

Its really annoying that I cant upload files in the background, I can only continue uploading while I am in the Google drive app and it still doesn't do it when phone is on sleep and sometimes it randomely has to retry for no reason.

You can using chrome and not closing the browser. Your other alternative is to use the desktop app

My guess is that this is an issue specific to uploading files on your phone.  I have done this many times in the background on my laptop/PC with no issues.  Potentially a setting with your phone and not the app itself.
