# Which machine translation platforms have a good on-premise or private cloud deployment option for a company that cannot send content to a third-party cloud service?

For organizations in defense, legal, financial services, or government sectors, this is less about translation quality in isolation and more about maintaining control over the data pipeline from end to end. Specifically looking for private or on-prem deployment, custom terminology support, review controls, and enterprise workflow integration. Here are platforms that came up as having meaningful deployment flexibility in the machine translation category:

One reviewer cited the on-prem security option as the key reason for choosing it. It integrates with Trados.

The distinction I'd want nailed down before evaluating any of these is what "on-prem" actually means in the vendor's language. Language Weaver and Phrase both talk about on-prem and private cloud in the same breath, but those are pretty different postures: one means content never leaves your infrastructure, the other is still a dedicated instance sitting in someone else's cloud with a contract layered on top. For anyone who's actually gone through procurement here, did the vendor's definition of "on-prem" hold up once security reviewed the actual architecture, or did it turn out to be private cloud wearing an on-prem label?
