Looking across the Constant Contact Consulting category on G2, the post's framing on setup quality over strategy is the right instinct for a small business, specifically, since a small business rarely has someone in-house who'll notice a subtly misconfigured automation until it's been quietly sending the wrong sequence for months. Specialization is probably the more useful signal to weigh than breadth of services here; a firm built entirely around email marketing has a narrower focus but likely deeper platform-specific troubleshooting experience than one offering email work alongside broader website and branding services, where email automation may be a smaller part of what the firm actually does day to day.

The babysitting question in the post is really asking about documentation and handoff quality, whether the consultant left behind something the business could actually maintain itself, or built something that only made sense while the consultant was still available to explain it. For a small business without a dedicated marketing ops staff, the automation that held up over time was probably the one built simply enough that gaps in logic were visible to a non-specialist, rather than the most sophisticated one available.
