# When will Adobe Photoshop Elements be updated to conform with standards?

For beginners, Adobe Photoshop Elements is an excellent software package, but more experienced photographers would desire more control over monochrome conversions and more subtle templates for auto compositions.

There are 6 helpful tabs to work with Black & White. There are also choices under effects tab where examples are posted. 
You may also open your project in Camera Raw and choose your levels there. 
Also click Image + mode in header: you will find Grayscale, Bitmap, Indexed color, RGB. 
There are wonderful tuitions out there that can help, including Photoshop Cafe where you can join Cafe Crew (Colin Smith). He knows everything about Photoshop!
