If by "patterns" you mean file naming patterns, then there would be no restrictions at all. If conversion between types is required, the GoAnywhere toolset contains a robust set of built in conversion tools (currently testing .xls to .csv now). Additionally you can call any external program, and then conversions are only limited by the external apps you might choose to use.
