# What questions should you ask before signing a fundraising software contract?

Not all contracts are created equal. Some lock you in for multiple years. Some charge overage fees you didn't see coming. Some make it hard to export your donor data when you leave.

A few worth asking upfront: What is the total cost including processing fees? Is there a long term commitment? What does support look like on event night? Can I take my data with me?

What questions do you wish you had asked before signing?

A few we'd add to any list: Does the platform take a percentage of bids? What does support look like on event night — email only or a real person? Can you export your donor and item data when you leave? At HelloFund we're happy to answer all of these upfront because we think transparency is what builds trust before the sale.
