# What piece of your Marketing stack is the tire with the nail in it/fifth wheel?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Often as part of complex marketing stacks, an older application or custom application continues to be integrated and carried forward, even as other technologies are upgraded and modernized.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Have you had an application or a function that you have needed to <strong>drag forward</strong> <em>as is?</em></p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Do you have any ideas how an organization (B2B or B2C) can get past this limitation?</p>

&lt;p&gt;Hi Alex,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I think most of the tools have upgraded themselves along with the emerging technology. We also have multiple options for one use case. Switch would be a better option than dragging. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;Hi Alex, it&#39;s an interesting question and answering it isn&#39;t simple!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It’s a situation familiar to me, but this is related to the fact that I deal a lot with technology/programming languages, which I believe is the situation that is most affected.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;To respond to the &lt;strong&gt;topic&lt;/strong&gt;:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Software&lt;/strong&gt; written in now obsolete programming languages, perhaps old versions of PHP. The obvious consideration to make is, if we are talking about the site/software of a small business...that&#39;s fine. If we are talking about a banking system/API of a multinational, obviously the discussion changes.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Marketing tools&lt;/strong&gt; that do not integrate automation and require manual intervention with external systems, working through webhooks or non-native systems. Frustrating.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
