<p>The thing that took me longest to sort out is that half these tools aren't actually competing with each other. DeepL and Google's API are answering "which engine translates best," while Phrase, Localize, and Unbabel are answering "how do we manage and ship translated content at all," and MachineTranslation.com is answering a third question entirely, which engine to pick per sentence. Before narrowing by language pair or content type, it might be worth figuring out which of those three questions you're actually trying to solve, since a lot of these slot together rather than replace one another.</p>
