Marketers job is to make their messaging as much personalized as possible. When you have hundreds of contacts, it is impossible to do it manually. With Workflows, you can define the process and goals. The Automation software takes care of the rest. To answer your sub-question, there can be multiple workflows for each campaign. It all depends on what you want to achieve and the flow.

HubSpot offers one of the best marketing automation software in the markets. Here are some common HubSpot workflows that are generally used by marketers.

The “best” way will depend on the automation in question and what your goals are. If you’re creating a process that you might want to use across multiple campaigns (for instance, let’s say any new website leads get added to a specific list) it might make sense to have that workflow live as its own piece of automation and then have your campaign utilize multiple workflows (for instance contacts will touch that one + plus one related to marketing communications from the campaign itself). However I would caution you to document out your workflow and keep an eye on how they relate to one another. As you build more systems or have more users in your HubSpot instance it can be easy to forget what has already been set up and risk creating a negative customer experience. Using Campaigns to tag or group everything related to a specific persona or effort can be very helpful for keeping things a bit more organized.

I like to use one workflow for one campaign. That said, I don't think there's any right or wrong way to do it. Just be sure that your naming convention is specific and represents what you're building. That way you can easily find the workflow (s) associated with various initiatives.
