CloudNativePG is an open source Kubernetes operator for running PostgreSQL. It manages the full database lifecycle inside Kubernetes (provisioning, high availability, failover, backups, and rolling updates) declaratively through manifests instead of manual DBA work. Common uses: multi-cloud and hybrid portability, so you can run the same Postgres across any cloud or bare metal and move workloads without rewriting code; cloud-native microservices, colocating databases with apps in the same cluster for low-latency, self-healing, resilient workloads; DBaaS automation, replacing manual tasks with self-service provisioning, point-in-time recovery, and near-zero-downtime patching across hundreds of instances; and secure, self-managed Postgres through decoupled container images, a Software Bill of Materials, and a reduced attack surface. EDB Postgres AI for CloudNativePG adds enterprise capabilities and commercial support on top of the open source operator.
