Both are drag-and-drop, WYSIWYG builders for WordPress, that offer a library of customizable elements, and templates and are compatible with all the best WordPress themes.
The main difference is that WPBakery is a page builder, while Visual Composer is a full website builder.
Visual Composer is React-based and doesn't rely on shortcodes, unlike WPBakery. WPBakery also has both a front-end and back-end editor, while Visual Composer has only a front-end editor.
