CloudTalk is the telephony layer.
It provides the phone numbers, SIP trunking, and call routing so users can call your intelligent agents from any regular phone line.
Essentially, it’s the entry point for voice traffic before it reaches the AI stack.
Retell AI acts as the voice intelligence layer.
When a call comes in through CloudTalk, it forwards the audio stream to Retell AI in real time.
Retell handles ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) and TTS (Text-to-Speech), converting human speech to text and back again.
Retell then sends the recognized text to GPT-4 for reasoning and response generation.
GPT-4 is the conversational brain.
It processes the user’s intent, accesses your business logic or knowledge base, and returns a natural-language response.
Retell receives this response, turns it into speech, and sends it back through cloudTalk to the caller.
