# What does Verato do, and what problem is it built to solve?

Verato® is an identity intelligence and master data management company founded in 2012 and headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Verato MDM Cloud™ resolves fragmented person and organization records into a single trusted golden record and keeps it current as new data arrives. The core technology is Verato Referential Matching®, which matches records against a proprietary reference database of US identities rather than relying on probabilistic matching alone. If you have evaluated identity resolution tools, what mattered most in your decision?
