I wear a ton of hats in any given day - conversion optimization, project management, technical writing, review management, technical liaison, etc. I have to learn to 1) allow my voice to be heard, not buried and 2) be open with my boss when I feel overwhelmed. It's still a daily challenge some days to keep my head above water, especially on days like today when technical issues take my team away from projects that I desperately need them to focus on.

Plus I give myself grace for those bad days. Those are the best days for a lunchtime yoga or dance class!

Thanks for sharing Angi! Being open with management is really important in any job. I know I would be drowning sometimes if it weren't for the support of my boss (shoutout to @Emily Cahill!). I love that you also mentioned lunchtime yoga! I think it's so important to have flexibility with your schedule and work life balance so the long days don't become overwhelming. My dog likes to get an afternoon walk every day, and it's really nice to just get up and step away from the screen!

Hi Angi, ➡️ "be open with my boss when I feel overwhelmed".✅ I can only speak (write) for me, I say: "health always comes first". Worked for years in environments where the only constant factor was "change". Not yet diagnosed with my autism at the time, I got to "enjoy", (fill in your favourite word for "can not compute anymore", also referred to as burn-out but more severe) a full stop (body said: "enough"). Turned out, "Hello autism". Which explained a lot if not everything and I (not overnight) made a "180" (work/ private life / mindset etc) and that is where "health always comes first" originates from (for me). You take care of you 😊 Best, Mark

Sometimes it is hard to find everybody and get them back together to make sure everybody knows what needs to be done in a day. Everybody I work with has Teams or Slack but there still is the element of knowing whether is someone really there or not.

So I think people end up with a lot more meetings than they would have if they were entirely in person and could walk up and speak to people and worst case scenario someone is waiting for a signoff or something they need to do their own work and they don't hear back in time.

Hi Alex, I echo that. Plenty of tools (software - as you mentioned) which (at least in some theory) could/ would/ should provide a clear "horizontal" view of what is going on, may (at least in some reality) actually cause "silo's" or an unclear "vertical" view. Best, Mark

Hi Stephanie,

Most challenging is what I refer to as:

"The Time Zone Shuffle".

Finding a suitable/acceptable time for a (live - "in person") call/meeting with global participants.

Luckily, with same participants over a longer period of time, I experience flexibility and "taking turns" on/for the less popular "time slots".

Best,

Mark
