Prominent enterprise risks in 2026 include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, third-party dependencies, emerging technology, legacy systems, regulatory change, workforce pressures, supply-chain disruption, and economic uncertainty.

However, organizations should not rely exclusively on a universal list. The most important risks are those that could prevent the organization from achieving its specific objectives.

A greater underlying concern is whether risks already known somewhere in the organization are visible to the people accountable for acting. Effective ERM connects emerging risks to business objectives, owners, controls, indicators, evidence, and escalation thresholds. This allows leadership to recognize changing exposure early and act before a known risk becomes an avoidable surprise.
