The latest trends in digital publishing and design aren’t really coming from InDesign, they’re coming from tools like Figma, Webflow, and Canva that are actually built for web-first, collaborative work. Adobe has thrown AI fills, browser text editing, and real-time collab into InDesign, but those feel more like catch-up than innovation. I still use it when I have to, mostly for print projects like catalogs, books, and magazines, because it’s still the best at structured long-form layouts. But in the digital space the real momentum is elsewhere, and InDesign is basically a print tool trying to look modern.
