# What are some of the extended features of Microsoft SharePoint that provide document safety?

How is Microsoft SharePoint safe and secure to provide the user and clients with an extended benefit of document sharing while worrying little about its privacy?

Direct access to documents and SharePoint content can be locked down with digital identities using Microsoft Azure SSO and other identity providers.  After authenticating, sessions and tokens maintain security for a given session, and document owners have the ability to control what level of interaction (read/write/etc.) are available to end users.  Changes are tracked and auditable, as you would expect.   Extended features may be available to protect or lock specific document content so that even on download digital controls may still prevent unfettered distribution of the original file.  Multi-factor authentication for identity providers will help provide additional peace of mind when it comes to privacy.  However, keep in mind that when it comes to security "people" are your weakest link, and those people who have access to a document may be able to share contents even if the document itself is locked down.   Best practice includes being mindful of the identity providers that you trust and those with whom you share content.

you can easily provide the access of those document into different level like only for viewing, downloading and editing.
