# What application release orchestration tools have the best GitHub and GitLab integration out of the box so a DevOps team does not need custom connectors just to connect to its own repos?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Question for the<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/application-release-orchestration"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/application-release-orchestration">application release orchestration</a> reviewers and researchers here. What I want to know is while every vendor in this space promises "seamless Git integration,” which tools actually connect to GitHub and GitLab out of the box, so a DevOps team is not building custom connectors just to reach its own repos?</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">The bar we're setting is simple:</p><ul>
<li>Connect with a login or token, not a plugin you have to maintain</li>
<li>Pick up branches, pull requests, and triggers without extra wiring</li>
<li>Treat GitHub and GitLab as equals, not one first-class and one an afterthought</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">A few we've been researching on G2:</p><ul>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/codefresh/reviews"><strong>Codefresh</strong></a>: closest to that bar. GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket are all built in, and triggers and webhooks work the same across them.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/azure-pipelines/reviews"><strong>Azure Pipelines</strong></a>: excellent with GitHub, since Microsoft owns both. GitLab is the catch. It connects as a generic Git repo and loses conveniences along the way.</li>

</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">And yes, if every repo lives in one place,<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/github/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/github/reviews"><strong>GitHub</strong></a> or<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/gitlab/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/gitlab/reviews"><strong>GitLab</strong></a> running its own pipelines is the zero-setup answer, at the cost of tying orchestration to that platform.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">So here's my real question: where does "native integration" quietly turn into "install this and maintain it yourself"? Which tool would get dropped from your shortlist and what for?</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"></p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"></p>
