1. Antivirus and malware detection
2. Proactive measures to plug any security gaps in your computer
3. Real time scanning immediately  withholds downloads and notifies user on possible threats/viruses/other corrupt elements before they enter your system

That's basically it. pl. note, all these are present in paid versions. Free versions will need you to manually download updates and etc. IF you are using a computer for banking transactions, a paid version comes very highly recommended
