This a great question! The market for SaaS Management Platforms (SMPs) is quickly evolving; the definitions of even a couple of years ago are woefully out of date. 

At a high level, A SaaS Management Platform (SMP) enables discovery, management, automation, and optimization for your company's sanctioned and unsanctioned (shadow IT) cloud applications. The SMP allows companies to bolster identity and data protection, find and remove wasted expenditures, and automate time-intensive or mundane tasks related to SaaS administration.
