# the stabilizing mode takes the videos out of frame and makes it more shaky, how do i combat that?

i took a couple videos that were quite shaky and tried to stabilize them with i movies (i was making a silent movie short), it was taking the videos out of frame and they almost came out worse.

Although iMovie is a great way to start editing video, it's intuitive user interface to bring new film makers on board comes at the expense of advanced features (to keep it simple).  There are great plugins to combat this but many of them that I've found online are for Final Cut X (which is what I switched to).

Stabilization enlarges the image so the edges look less shaky. Sometimes it helps but often it just magnifies the problem. It’s hard to fix a super shaky shot. Personally I find sometimes slowing down the shot and just using the least shaky part at about 65% speed works better then stabilizing.
