Discovery Attender is not able to access PST files which are in active use by another application (such as Outlook). Discovery Attender will log an error and report when the PST file is inaccessible. The user has the option to re-run the search at a later time using the “Search Again” feature to re-examine these PST files. Applications automatically disconnected from PST files after 30 minutes of inactivity. It is best, therefore, to conduct searches at times when users are not likely to be actively using their PST files.
