# Is there a way to set up notifications from messages?

Hoping to get a notification when a parent messages us on HiMama.

Hi Kortni,

Thanks for your question. I'm Dominick, one of the research analysts here at G2. There were recent updates to HiMama's Message Center, which you can look through here: https://help.himama.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006337294-Introducing-the-NEW-Message-Center-. The HiMama product should be giving you notifications for new parent messages by default, but photo comments will appears as a "comment" in your message center. According to HiMama, teachers will see a visual pop-up notification when a new message comes in from a parent but not when a parent responds to a message. That may be why you aren't receiving notifications, and unfortunately I do not know if they plan to update their app to add that feature. If you aren't receiving notifications at all for new parent messages on mobile, though, one solution that may work is to open your phone settings, scroll down until you see HiMama, and click to make sure that you have notification permissions turned on for that app. I hope this helped!
