# Is there a way to name group chats like channels?

I have different group chats in the Slack channel and would like to know if there is a way that I could possibly name them like a channel but not create a new channel.

When you enter the channel and click on the channel name and click edit, you can change the names

You can create a private channel and add the people you need.

When you do a direct chat @name is used and for group chat I'm afraid you can't name them differently.

Each user has an @their name that is used for direct messages between users. The group chatter is done under the #general channel. We also made a #random channel to use when oddball stuff comes up, or someone wants to share something funny, etc.
