# Is there a way of speeding up Data Studio reports with large data volumes?

We use Supermetrics for a quarterly report on Data Studio, which has a data filter in it that allows brand managers to see the data for just their pages. The load times are very long, and it feel disproportional to usual speeds on SUpermetrics, and I wondered if there is a solution for that.

Hi,

If you use Supermetrics for google sheet, you may change your data granularity working with pivot table and use this pivot table as data sources. The goal is to build a data architectur consistent with your graphics and dataviz and not oversized. That's the best way I found to reduce loading.

Best,

Hey Mathias,

There are a number of things that could contribute to Data Studio reports slowing down, especially at high volumes, such as long date ranges and complex calculated fields. We have a comprehensive best practices guide for Data Studio on our support center that helps you optimize loading speeds – you can find it here:

https://support.supermetrics.com/support/solutions/articles/19000126988-best-practices-for-data-studio

In addition, you can also use Google's free Extract Data connector jointly with Supermetrics to speed up reports. Here is a great blog that outlines the approach as well as how to set it up:

Last but not least, you may want to consider using a data warehouse, as the source of data.

For example, Google BigQuery integrates very well with Data Studio You can use the same Supermetrics connectors to move data to BigQuery, and then visualize it in Data Studio. There are a number of benefits to this approach, one of them being faster load speeds. To learn more about this approach, check out the link below:

I hope all of this helps!
