Yes, creating an account is free.  Additionally, if you're a Quickbooks Online Accountant (QBOA) user, creating an account is quicker than ever, just login via your QBOA credentials and you'll be ready to prepare returns in no time.  

When it comes time to submit returns, you will have to pay for them, but there are a number of different pricing options built to help your firm succeed.  Check them out here:  https://proconnect.intuit.com/tax-online/pricing/
