# Is it worth paying a percentage of bids to your auction software?

Most fundraising software platforms charge a percentage of every dollar raised. On the surface it sounds small. But run the math on a $100K event and you're handing over $2,000 to $5,000 that was meant for your school or cause.

Flat fee alternatives exist. The question is whether the features and support justify the cost model you choose.

What has your organization experienced? Did the percentage model cost you more than expected?

At HelloFund, we built our pricing around a simple belief: the money your guests raise should go to your cause, not your software vendor. That's why we charge a flat annual fee with no percentage taken from bids. On a $100K event, that difference is real. We'd encourage any organization to run the math before signing.
