From my understanding, the downside to promoting a giving campaign through Facebook, regardless of the date, is that the payment processor does not track the information of the donors aside from their Facebook profile, of course. We shared our #GivingTuesday campaign on our Givebutter platform on Facebook, and had an amazing show of support. The extra click really didn't deter our donors, but that might be unique to our constituency.
