# I want to be able to better manage metadata for documents in BIM 360, similar to what we do in Vault

I want to be able to search documents in BIM 360 like we do in Vault, based on a robust set of metadata.  I also would like my users ike to be able to create saved searches and favorites for ease of use and better control.

I'd also like to be able to upload or automatically create folders as well as files (having to manually recreate our Vault folder structure is hampering synchronization efforts.)

Custom attributes can be added and then searched as metadata. Projects can be created from a template of use the desktop connector to copy/paste the required folder structure

If your files have title blocks, and you upload them to the Plans section, you can use the title block extraction tool in BIM360 Docs to populate Attributes (which are like user defined properties in Vault). This will extract data from the title block using OCR and populate attributes, which are searchable in Docs.

If you’re trying to upload Vault files to Docs, you can use the ProjectSync feature of Vault Pro. Once configured it will upload files to Docs, using the same folder structure you had in Vault. At this point though you won’t be able to upload metadata from Vault to Docs, which is something Autodesk will hopefully address soon.
