# I'm a student teacher and the teacher I assist does not love technology. How can I coach him?

I'm trying to show him all the different tools he can utilize to make the classroom experience and he is a little pushing against it. Can you help me form an argument for why it's so important we transition?

Hi Marina, I think it comes down to what you are trying to accomplish with the technology. Sometimes the phrase “less is more” rings especially true when it comes to technology and education. I’d agree with Frank that you should pick one or two problems you’re trying to solve, try out a tool, and then evaluate its effectiveness. Here are a few suggestions of places to start: 

If you’re trying to help students study more effectively for an exam (which was always something my students needed help with when I was a teacher), create an example study set using one of the products from our Study Tools category (https://www.g2.com/categories/study-tools) and show students how to use it effectively. If you’re looking for tools to deliver reading or math instruction in an engaging way, look at digital learning platforms (https://www.g2.com/categories/digital-learning-platforms). If you need a better way to assess their learning, check out an assessment tool (https://www.g2.com/categories/assessment). I think being able to show that a tool helped students learn is the best argument you can make for expanding your use of it in the classroom.

My best answer is this is probably going to be the status quo for a little while.  In addition to that some of the assessments and tools you help them develop can still be used in a face to face classroom.  I would recommend offering to help with a few things pick 1 or 2 big ideas you would like to help add technology to and show its effects.  The proof of its effectiveness should help sell them of the incorporation of more tech as needed.
