This is a really helpful discussion for new Canvas users! I'm still getting the hang of it myself. Speaking of tricky online experiences, I recently found a free browser game called Home Is Where He Is that has a pretty unsettling atmosphere. https://homeiswhereheis.live

In Canvas you typically add the Quiz to a Module to organize for your students.  Go to Modules in your left course navigation.  If you do not already have a module, click the +Module blue button and create the module.  It will appear on your screen in light gray.  Click the + at the far right of that gray band to add an item to the Module.  In the window that opens, select Quiz from the drop menu and then select Create Quiz.  Select New Quizzes (classic quizzes are going away) and give the Quiz a name and group (grading category).  

You will land back on your Modules page and the quiz will appear under the module with a rocket icon.  Click on the name of the quiz to launch the quiz.  You will land on the Details page.  Scroll down and click the blue Build button.  From Build, give your quiz a Title, add instructions if wanted and click the blue + to add a question.  Enter the questions details and click Done to save the question.  You will have the option to add questions from an Item Bank if one is available to you as well as preview your course to see how it appears to students.  Once you are done working on the quiz, click Return at the far top right to return to your module.
