# How long should I expect the sync time to be between machines?

Sometimes the sync time is extremely fast, whereas other times it takes hours before my item gets uploaded. This always occurs on the same network so I don't think there are any connectivity issues?

Kind of a complex question. OneDrive is SLOW. It takes about 30 minutes per GB. Your computer can't go to sleep while that's happening. And that's assuming you aren't using the internet at all for anything else. Now the upside is, if you're looking for the files on a second computer, it will start downloading as soon as it's uploaded to OneDrive, which happens much faster.
But lets say you have 24GB of data to sync? Well that will take roughly 12 hours to upload. So you won't likely have all your data for around 13 hours on the other computer.
Edits are faster though, because it doesn't upload the entire file for most files due to block chain uploads. But things like jpeg, zip, and most video compressions, any change at all will change the entire file, so the whole thing has to be replaced. (this is the same for all cloud storage)

So to answer the question in short....probably a Long time.
